Has anyone tried osteopathy for reflux problems? Better still can anyone recommend an osteopath in the south Manchester area?
Hi, I've never tried osteopathy for GERD. GERD is a mechanical problem where the valve between your stomach and oesophagus doesn't close properly and the impact of gravity, movement or a motility disorder causes the acid to reflux into the oesophagus and throat. Alternatively GERD can also be if the valve is impeded by a hiatus hernia which can also cause the reflux. I'd be keen to know if you did you try osteopathy out in the end and if so did it help you at all?
I am now half way through a short course of osteopathy. I feel improved after each treatment and have excercises to do at home. It is too early to say how effective the treatment is.
Please oh please let us know how you get on. After wrestling with this affliction in its many guises for probably 30 years I'm certainly wiling to try anything. Wresting my hopes on a modified paleo at present. Going well but I have learned that somethings take months to show a positive result. The trouble is getting a really accurate diagnosis preferably from a doctor who practices Western and natural medicine.
