Had this rash for 2weeks. Just diagnosed yesterday at AandE. I'm in tears. Burning skin itchy horrid. HELP. I can't bear my husband to see me or my son to hug me. HELP. I am going on holiday next week. I just want to cancel and hide away. I feel so low
I would try not to stress too much I know it's hard not too but the stress can make it worse. Second thing try using reg head and shoulders and tanning in a salon for about 5 to 6 mins 2-3x a week. I am on my second round of PR in 6 months had it then it cleared then came back about a month later itching can also make it worse I've heard teatree cream helps a lot with the itching. The first time when I finally found this forum the combination of head and shoulders and palmers cocoa butter formula took away most of the horrible itch. Hope this helps and just try to remember its temporary and a benign skin condition.
Try tea tree cream it stopped my itching almost immediately, use Thursday plantation available from boots chemist. Zinc tablets also help. Do not wash with hot water it makes the rash much worse use only cold water!
about 3/4 weeks ago my herald patch appeared, a week later a few more spots came and I went to the doctor (misdiagnosed with a fungal infection and when the cream didnt clear that up I went back with even more spots this time and was diagnosed with PR). In the last 2 weeks ive been washing once a day using head and sholders as body wash and creaming after the shower with normal cocobutter moisturiser or aveeno moisturising body cream (containing oatmeal and working on eczema). Ive also occasionally been rubbing cocobutter coconut skin therapy oil onto my skin as well but this is less regular. So, it could be one of those things or a combination that's also helping (and its possible my PR was on its way out anyway by chance) but the turning point for me was when I used a sunbed. I dont want to encourage anyone to use them regularly because of their harmful side affects but if, like me, you're about to go on holiday etc or have a big reason to want to zap the marks then I suggest you try it. I only went once and went for 8 mins because I have olive skin that isnt prone to burning and that was all I needed to improve my skin by about 80% id say. If you look closely you can still see some of the marks and ive noticed a couple of new ones arrive but they're small and appeard about 5 days apart whereas before I would wake up with a few new ones daily. The sunbed seemed to work best on my older, larger marks but even a week later my newer ones are still fading (although I wont go back on a sunbed because I dont want to damage my skin). As well as causing marks to fade having a tan in general helps cover any that remain slightly red until they clear up on their own. Im continuing with my moisturising regime but the one-time sunbed use has meant Ive regained so much confidence and can wear strappy tops again etc. I hope this helps!
