Hi guys I've had stomach issues for the last 15 years. Send many doctors and specialists. Had heaps of blood tests and stool tests. Xrays, scans, colonoscopy etc. Anyway I'm seeing a new gastro specialist, he has ordered some 3 stool tests and blood tests. The blood test and stool test are normally free where I live, but he said these are more complex and have to be sent interstate for testing so a few $$$ out of pocket. Now I cannot see the specialist for up to 3 more weeks. If something came back on the test would he ring me before that time? I hate waiting the brain ticks over, and I'll start Googling symptoms. Ahhh. Cheers
STAY AWAY FROM THE INTERNET. You'll end up with every danged illness you can imagine. Your doc would prob. not call you with test results unless he saw them right away and thot you were about ready to die and even then he'd have one of his office staff call you.
If you are so concerned, don't cause yourself more anxiety, you call his office. If they put you off, call again 3-4 days later. You have to ride them like a bucking bronco especially if he/she is a gastro.
I just sent my gastro a message via their hospital system and I'm not holding my breath for a speedy answer. Calling his office (from past experience) gets me no where. They always say he is with a patient, blah blah blah.
I hope the results are negative. Sending soothing vibes.
Hi Cuba, at least you know it is nothing severe otherwise you would be rang a lot, lot earlier. You need to wait maybe 3 more days and then ring and ask for your results. I had blood tests last week and I wait the alloted amount of time to get the results back, I should have rang today but I'm speaking to my doctor tomorrow so what's another day, if they were exceptionally worried they'd be on the phone. See what I mean? DON'T PANIC! You're doing ok.x
I would assume that once your results are in, your doctor would contact you irrespective of whether they show anything or not. I would wait a week and if you hear nothing, phone your doctor again to chase it up.
