have been given sertraline 50mg

Hi I have been given sertraline 50mg 1 pill a day and have been taking it for a week.

I was wondering is it normal for it to lower my heart rate as it seems to sit in the 50s while I am resting.

I am also getting all my anxiety feelings tenfold on me right now fuzzy head or headache, ringing in my ears, trembleing, constant worry and dread over everything and general tiredness also when i take the tablet about 3 to 4 hours later i feel extremely tired but when I wake none of the problems are their each day apart from ringing in ears occasionally everything comes on as day goes on.

I was in hospital 4 months ago and had my heart checked because I had palpitations I had an ecg, stress test, blood tests, holter test and echocardiogram done the doctors said my heart was perfect nothing wrong but I am worried did they miss something?

Thank you for advice all

I forgot to add I track my heart rate via a fitbit charge 2

This is all very common side effects, most people get these early on, mine took about 3 weeks to go away, and it generally takes 6-8 weeks to start feeling better on sertraline!!

So these side effects are common joe41529 that includes the resting heart rate in the 50s and when sleeping it drops into 40s at times.

This damn anxiety makes me worry about these things since I am obese and that compounds it

My heart rate was in the low 50's the second week I started 50mg.  I wouldn't worry about that.

I did not have your other symptoms so I can't address them.  For me, I felt instantly better when I started taking Zoloft.  It helped my anxiety tenfold over anything else I've ever done.

Hope you feel better soon!

All I’m saying is my resting heartbeat is still in the 50s. Always a good idea to double check things with your Dr again if you have these concerns

Thanks joe this put my mind at ease i get health anxiety very easy and i am a huge disaster thinker allways have been atleast i know restjng heart rate in the low 50s is normal.

It goes back up to 70 or 80 when I get up and move around and 100 when I try a bit of fast walking.

I tryed all the other things to get rid of anxiety but it always came back and kicked me harder in the face and for past 3+ years it's just been getting progressively worse.

I changed doctor and within a few visits he put me on this stuff he actually listened to me.

I am glad to know that it is normal for this drug to lower the heart rate to low 50s but will it all ways keep it their or will it pass in time?

Thank you everyone for advice these drugs slways scare me since they never have all the possible side effects on the label.

I’m not a Dr or anything but the way you describe your heart rate activity I believe most people would think that your readings sound quite good and very normal actually. Sounds like your a lot like I am and overthink and worry about things way to much! Lol
