Have come off antidepressants after 25 years.Anxiety through the roof.

Have been on antidepressants for anxiety with little relief.l have now been taken off them as they are starting to make me more depressed with mood swings.l have been off now for 17 days however the nausea and anxiety is crippling.l am struggling to cope however l don't want to go on another antidepressant.Any advice would be welcome.

What kind of anxiety do you experience?

There are MANY MANY ways to cope with anxiety without medication.

I definitely recommend reading.  Specifically books on anxiety and panic.  Panic was my main problem and I picked up a highly rated book about panic on amazon.  Then I read a few pages each day.  It has helped me more than meds and therapy too.  I use the techniques it taught me every time I have panic.

Also, there are many supplements that you can take to help ease your nervous body.  I take 200mg of magnesium citrate and calcium every day.  It calms your body and your muscles and sometimes it may fix a magnesium deficiency which causes panic like symptoms.

I have more advice, but Ill share those two tips for now.

God bless you on your journey.  You can message me anytime.

If you stopped abruptly it could be side effects. If you are desiring a natural way to combat this, there are supplements that may help as mentioned in first post. I too have read magnesium can help. There are different types of magnesium so look for the one specifically for anxiousness. I believe there's another one for metabolism. I have also read fish oil, vitamin c, gaba, and vitamin d can also be helpful. There is also this natural plant called ashwagandha that is used in ayurveda that has a calming effect. I would also recommend private or group therapy. Please talk with your doctor before taking any supplements. There are some that may effect your liver and some you can overdose on so very important to discuss this with a physician. They may recommend blood work before taking any. In the meantime practice breathing exercises. Online offers ton of tips. Hang in there. This is treatable and beatable.

Thanks for getting back to me.l will give your advice a go and take it one day at a time

Thanks for your advice.l suffer free floating anxiety and it is crippling however antidepressants are not the answer for me.

Give your bidy a chance to refulate. It is all new to it now, 17 days is not enough time to reregulate. Your bidy is existing at a heightened state now as the meds are leaving your system. Yes belly wint feel well to say the least, what does your gp suggest? Maybe as needed meds? Cbt, dbt? See what your gp feels about this.

Oh ok I have GAD and free floating anxiety as well.  I recommend you look up those supplements.  They will help.  And also start looking at ways to recover from your anxiety naturally.  For me, breathing techniques didnt really work out.  I tended to get more anxious when I try to breath properly.  But other mental techniques helped me, which I've learned from some reading.

What books would you recommend.Breathing techniques tend to increase my anxiety.l just don't seem to be able to get a handle on this which is very frustrating.Feeling agitated and hopeless.

I am under the guidance of a psychiatrist who doesn't seem to think you get withdrawal from antidepressants.l was taken off 26 years of antidepressant use straight on to an antipsychotic and after 10 days l took a seizure which l have never had before.Took me off the antipsychotic and here l am left to cope on my own. I have no faith in the medical profession.

My main problem has been panic attacks.  If your anxiety and worry is prett extreme,  I will assume you get those too.

The book that helped me out of all the therapy, meds, and any supplement was a book called "D.A.R.E."  It is about how to get rid of panic attacks and the techniques used can be used to lessen worry as well.

Thanks l will give it a read.
