Have had viral labyrinth iris now for nearly four weeks acutely

please I just want to feel better. Dizziness nausea full ears blah blah the gp says yep it's viral labyrinthitis, take the buccastem.  Then try betahistine. Nothing bloody works. Feel dreadful most of the time. I have the odd good day and I think at last.... Then back it comes with a vengeance. I'm off sick and hating every minute as I'm a nurse and I know we are short staffed. Having an MRI on Tuesday to look at things,, but I just want to feel better

Hello Helen.......

its a very long road......

first had this back in August, it lasted for 12 weeks

it then came back a week before Christmas, it's still with me,

I'm off sick again, also a Nurse, but there is no way you can work

as you feel so awful every day !!!!!

Hi Helen

I'm sorry you're feeling dreadful....been there! My first bout lasted 2 years but everyone is different. It can be a long road and for the most part, there are no magic pills that will take it away. You have to wait it out. Be good to yourself. Try to get plenty of rest and keep hydrated. Try vestibular rehab. It's what saved me!

Hi Helen,I know how you feel,I've had the same for 3 and half months and I'm a carers assistant, we are short staffed too but I'm so dizzy I can't work,I'm worried I'm going to lose my job,it scares mW as my MRI scan was normal so were balance tests, how do I prove I'm dizzy? I hope your OK,its really scary when it comes on strong, take care, lisa

Hi Helen

I know how you feel. I was diagnosed with the same thing. Since the 20th I have been taking all kinds of medication and yes I do feel beeter but the minute the cold aur hits my ears I Feel yucky and woozy all iver again. I went to my grandson's basketball yesterday, the referee blew his whistle and I Felt this horrible pop in my right ear and now I am really woozy and constant ringing in my ears.

I am so frustrated and want thus ti go away for good.

I hope your test comes back okay- Feel Better.

Hi angie, awful isn't it.  Just when you think things may be improving you drop back again. I could cope if I knew in six weeks it will be a distant memory but then I read on here that some poor people have had it for six months plus! Can't see my employers being too happy for much longer. I went off sick on Dec 14 and have no idea wen I will be fit toreturn. Let's hope we all have a good day tomorrow xxx

Dear Helen,

Please stay positive and you will certainly come out of this problem soon. Have a positive mindset, I am feeling dizzy at the odd hours only when I am lying in the bed. If is so uncomfortable and don't know what is causing this problem. I initially

Thought it is something to do with increase or decrease of Blood pressure. I have not been able to visit the GP yet, However, one of my advised to visit a n ENT specialist.

Hope all of us get better like before and get rid of this problem. AMEN

Hi Helen

oh dear......feel for you I truly do, I've had it for over 20 years my friend. I can work but have never been full time since I got it. I had to finish work altogether, it started in July and by October I was in a mess with severe debilitating attacks every other day, sometimes it was 18 hours before I could move and my darling husband would lay on the floor next to me until I could be helped upstairs to bed. I am lucky to have him as it has changed our lives, we had only been married for two years and we are still together, 27 years this February! I work 20 hours a week now but it still attacks me out of the blue. People have this in degrees of severity I pray yours won't be    that severe but please bare it in mind.....good luck

Hi do you have any hearing loss?

It's a vital question ?

Hi Kate, at times yes, it's more the fullness in my ears.

Hi Helen

Its not too often people on here mention fullness... my left ear which has a damaged balance nerve has been plugged for 4 months. Have you ever asked an ENT why the ears feel full? My right one plugs on occasion but comes and goes.

Hi Debbie yes it's a classic symptom of labs or one of them .

Hi Mary are you feeling better now? Five weeks on and today I feel dreadful again some days better than others. Still off sick . Tried to under go MRI but it was too much for me so  have had to find an open MRI at great expense to go to this week. Epley procedure made no difference and I don't think the beta histamine are doing much either! Hope you are fairing better than I am xx
