I have a blood test in two weeks before seeing Rheumie...looked at what is to be tested, there is the usual CRP,FB2, but puzzling me is DHBA, never seen this before, and have looked everywhere on line, but nothing comes up...I`m sure someone has seen this, and sure Eileen will know!....perhaps it will give the rheumie the answers I`ve waited 5 years for! (I wish)
"This test measures the amount of ketones in the blood. Ketones are produced during the break down of fats. They are made when glucose is not available as an energy source. When fatty acids are metabolised, ketones build up in the blood, causing first ketosis, and then ketoacidosis, a form of metabolic acidosis. This condition is most frequently seen with uncontrolled type 1 diabetes and can be a medical emergency."
But if you aren't diabetic - I can't think why!
And your computer obviously isn't as well trained as mine!!! Came up almost straight away if that is what it is - it is a blood test!
It's the only think I can find with those letters - looking forward to hearing why - or if someone has done a typo!!
We had it this week! Howling gale of polar air and overnight temperatures down to -6C yesterday. The apples, apricots and vines are all at a delicate stage - they were all misted with water in the hope of protecting them Fingers crossed!
This week they have had/will have up to a foot of snow in Austria and
Germany in the Alps. And we are forecast to have another 2 days of snow and barely above freezing temperatures in the daytime again.
April does as it like - at least I still have my winter tyres on!!!!
I am sorry to muscle in on a conversation but wondered if I could ask....my fingers are really painful...clawed on the left and straight but very painful on the right....will steroids if eventually I get them...will this stop this...I cannot even open a plastic container...no strength for a crisp packet....I have felt so unwell on dioclefenic (sic) and solpadol that I have stopped taking them...did not seem to make any difference
It does very much depend what is causing it. If it is PMR then it will get a lot better though maybe not perfect. If it is something else, I really don't know. Mind you - I struggle with a crisp packet, scissors every time although I can open the better than OH! And this evening i wanted to open a bottle of bleach - OH had to do it, though since it was the most bizarre sort of top I think part of the problem was the version of "child safety" top!
And if painkillers didn't make any significant difference you really are better not to bother. Your GP really does need a reality check and a clip round the ear!
It was the Rheumie himself that requested the blood test....so will be interesting to now why....
Wow, you really have had the weather....as OH often says......Don`t cast a clout till May is out, but then the glass is usually half empty with him.....and he does like a real ale!.....
