Not unusual at all. Obviously you thought because you hadn't had a period in four months you were done. But it often doesn't work that way. My periods tapered to one every three months, then 6 months. This is why they say you must be a full year with no periods before they can say you are in menopause.

It shouldn't be a long time till you reach that milestone. Once they space out like this, it's right around the corner.

I had the same.. then i would get 2 periods in 2 weeks.. then miss a month.. then a few normal periods.. ten miss again... you never know whats going to happen next.. but apparently is common and all part of the process

itsn absolute nightmare ,, i stopped sometimes up to 8 months and started again ,, how do you feel genarally ,, do you have other symptoms ,, are you getting any help from docs xxx

I am 53 and have not had any bleeding for about 4 months but for the last 4 days I have bleeding so very heavy with a lot of clotting, it seems to stop for a few hours then comes back with a vengeance I have never experienced anything so heavy before so I guess it's progestrone levels.  Is this common or unusual as I don't know whether to go to docs

I had this happen to me last month.. I missed a month as i often do now..then started with very little bleeding ..then the next day wham... everytime i moved.. never had anything like it.  had to use both tampax and pads for a few days and at bed time.. but it did stop on day 4..  From what i have read it is common and is known as flooding.  And yes its down to projesterone .. you dont have enough to regulate how much you bleed.  So i now have stocked up on pads etc ready for the next .. ;/
