Hi all,
Just had a bath. Whoopee!
Before the op when I raised and lowered my right leg in the bath the hip used to make a clunking noise as the leg went back down. Tonight I tried it out and the noise has gone.
Has anyone else noticed how much quieter and smoother their new hip action is post-op.
Hi Shirley
Well done on first bath....Yes like you now pain fre and smoother and easier. Baths are lovely and super that you are able to bath again. Wondering if you like me were advised to wait till 6 weeks post op ?
Enjoy!

Never been a bath fan. I re vamped my bathroom last year and found the floor only went to the side of the bath. ..couldnt see what was holding it in place lol. Knowing my luck it would crash through the floor lol. I notice how smooth my hip is while doing othrr things. ..no clunk.. no pain. ... a smooth well oiled bionic woman. Lol
Yes, my 6 weeks was up last Thursday. Watch this space.
Oh yes thats the first thing I noticed, that my hips no longer did its slip and slide feeling, and then the sudden stop, thats when the severe pain hit, especially when I put my heel down first, and the fact I never knew which way it was going to slip and slide. I modified my walking gait as the whole feeling used to frighten me and the fear I would dis-locate, probably lucky I didn't. Dr did comment dis-locating was like shelling a pea, easy.
Wow lyn, that sounds scary.
Hi shirley ,
Can't join in to this conversation there was no clicking or shifting pre-op of either hip - just grinding pain -
So happy for you that you are doing so well and enjoying your bath ....
keep it up, darling - one day at a time -
big warm hug
