Having a hard time Going from Lexpro to Paxil

Hi everyone I hope someone can help. 

I’ve been going through weeks of horrible panic attacks and desensitized feelings. I wasn’t originally on Lexpro for years at 30mg , then had topamax added , then taken off topamax and had Rexulti added . Nothing was working so my psychiatrist is now weening me off Lexpro and putting me on Paxil . I’ve been taking 15mg Lexpro and 20 Paxil and on the first day I felt like a zombie and was confused and extremely out of it . I went to the ER and they gave me a shot of Ativan to calm me down which helped. Has anyone gone through this when switching meds ?

Usually dr uses this way to change meds for patients : first lower the dosage for the old drug and then add a new one. Until your brain got used to the change , dr will stop the old drug and increase the new drug’s dosage. Meanwhile, there will be side effects for some people as everyone reacts to different SSRI differently. I was on Paxil for seven years before and now I am on a complete new one . Hope this helps
