Hi, just really wanting to vent! I am having a low day when 6 weeks feels like eternity, my hip will NEVER feel any better, I am fed up with sleeping in the lounge on the recliner, my blasted leg STILL hurts, and I am fed up with the whole schmozzle!!!! I could fall out with a saint quite easily, no trouble at all! Have others experienced this? Rational part of me says it's only two weeks, what did you expect, un-rational and unreasonable bit wants to have a MASSIVE paddy about it all! I NEED chocolate, in vast quantities
Chocolate is always the answer...oh and a glss of wine!!!
xx
Hi Margaret sorry you feel so down, all this is completely normal.
Next week you will feel so much better in the meantime eat chocolate, spoil yourself, and sleep when you can.
Hi Margaret, sorry you feel low! Things will get better for you! Take a day at a time. I am just over 7weeks! Its still not easy but I have to adapt! Next week I start hydrotherapy, and will start reflexology! As this will do me good! I am a carer for my husband, which isn't easy at all! I have little help.keep your chin up! Regards Amanda
Not too much wine though. I wonder if you can be drunk in charge of a crutch?
Margaret I would hobble round and bring the chocolate personally if I could!
I remember feeling exactly the same at 2 weeks. I'd had enough of being uncomfortable and useless and had what apparently is called a hissy fit!
Seriously it will get better. Do you have to carry on sleeping downstairs? You must be shattered.
Do you have someone to help you?
I look forward to your post that is headed ' feeling better' --it will happen
Love Barbara x
hi margaret,it does have its dull days ive got to admit.i am 5 weeks in and my leg still feeling very stiff and achy.it does however feel much better when im walking so i do walk to town and back every day and i,m on my feet cooking food and doing light housework most of the day.i do however have a sleep most afternoons sometimes for about 2hrs absolutely spark out !!!. its still early days for us so yes i agree with the others, plenty of chocolate and spoiling.we will get there x
chin up Margaret just think your 2 weeks in and I have it all to come. You vent away I'm sure it all helps and who knows I probably will want to vent as well when my time comes (((( big hugs from Gill)))) xx
Hi Margaret
Don't worry, it's completely normal and if it wasn't for this group I think we would all think we were completely mad.
You will feel better, you'll have good days and you'll have bad days.
You'll have happy days when you've done something you couldn't do before your op and you'll have sad days when anything will make you cry, even the grass being green !
Go with it, have a good cry or have a good laugh, just take it as it comes and you will get through it.
Your low day will pass. It does not help having to survive on poor sleep. Think I had an unrealistic view of hip replacement as I was told by various people it was the best thing they ever did so I thought one woke up from op all singing and dancing. No one mentioned the convalescence. I had several low day and even at 6 weeks post op had another. Today I stubbed my toe while out walking on uneven ground with 2 supports. Needless to say it was the operated side and this jarred the hip. Had to take pain relief this afternoon. Had a very restless evening at cinema. Now preparing for the sleep disturbed night. Perhaps we need a National hippy moan day
Let's hope tomorrow you will feel brighter it really does get better
Hi Margaret, I'm with Barbara - would hobble along with the wine and chocolate personally if I could. It will get better xx
Christine.....you made me laugh inside. Where anything can make you cry even the grass being green! I went through that stage also. Some very empty, boring, sad days. I cried (no, full on balled) once when my husband had heated up some lasagna for me and also made me garlic bread without being asked to. Like he read my mind....it tasted great! We both had a laugh over that later.
Hi Margaret as everyone has said roller coaster emotions totally normal -if one of them would offer chocolate, gin and shoes on prescription I would vote for them!
Lol ! connie, its funny when you look back isn't it but so good to know we're not the only ones.
Its funny how it just suddenly comes over you, not straight after op but a few weeks later when you know you're improving.
Its strange but true !
Hey Valerie if one of them would offer any one of those on prescription I'd vote for them lol !
Hi Margaret your feelings are all to familiar with my own at 2wks post op.
I felt so bad I even posted how I felt on here which isn't like me really.
Looking back now I feel a bit of a wuss, but at the time things had started to get me down and all kinds of worries start to play tricks with your mind.
Six weeks further on and things are more or less back to normal.
You just have to hang in and get throught those horrible first four to six weeks.
Good morning all ... I hope that you feel better Margaret - I had the same day like you yesterday and blame the upcoming full moon - I am at the magical 6 weeks and feel as if I am going backwards - or better said, not improving as fast as I thought I would - all those pre-op stories of people who had THR surgery gave the impression that it is a walk in the park .... piece of cake - I bet we will say the same thing once we get through this - If not for all you fellow hippies here I would have gone mad ---
Big hug .... wishing you patience and do be kind to yourself !
Hello Margaret. Hope you are rested and feeling a bit better today. It is my 6 week birthday and I had a better nights sleep so feel more cheerful.
Do your favourite thing everyday. Things improve daily even if a bit slow
Hi Mararet, hope you are feeling better today. I'm 12 weeks post op now & had many low days along the way. I can honestly say now I don't remember when I last had one so hang in there, it does get better.
Get the chocolate quick!!!!! Take the painkillers, put on some favourite music, watch a favourite film, read a good book, have a moan, do a crossword or jigsaw puzzle (hate both) relax, have a walk about the house or garden if you can, phone a friend, find some old wool and knitting needles, knit a scarf (anything else is too taxing). Once you have got over 3 weeks, you will certainly begin to feel better. Why not try sleeping in a bed now and see how it goes. By the way you are quite normal. Best wishes.
