In the last few days I have brown mucus in the morning when I clear my throat, so it's not coming from a cough but when I clear my throat I have brown mucus. Here is a picture:

I've had a lungs CT scan 5 months ago and everything was fine, I also have been having a checkup at the ENT doctor and they said everything is fine.
I've been a smoker for 2 years. But what could this mucus indicate? Is that normal?
