Having internal body vibrations/buzzing.

As predicted I finally fell asleep at 1am after two glasses of wine, hotub soak and melatonin. I slept hard only to wake up at 5:00am to vibrations like I was laying on top of a washing machine on its fastest spin cycle. From a scale of 1-10 it was a ten....even in my face (I make up my own scale as I have nothing to compare it to...lol). 5 hours later its at a two.

Having the vibrations that bad I would be to panic to fuction might alone soak in a tub at 1:00AM. Do you ever feel nervousness on the inside as well? I feel the nervoness and have the panic anxiety and heart palps the worse.

Thanks lisa, that sounds really promising! I want to try the stuff as soon as possible.

I also use extra salt, it really helps with the fatigue and low blood pressure. I don't drink it but just put some extra on my food. Sometimes on hot days like today I make stock and put some extra salt in it, it gives me a proper boost.

I  was planning to use patches also, they don't cause migraines like the pills do in migraineurs (like me).

By the way, I asked my mother today if she ever felt vibrations at the beginning of menopause and just before that, and she did, she described them as a constant electric current flowing through her body, just like you did!

Oh dear... I can relate 😔 I have only had 1-2 hours sleep and I want to scream and cry. I had awful surges hot and cold rushes that kept me awake which triggered anxiety too. My poor kids must be over me too. All my symptoms came on so suddenly a 6 weeks ago and I don't know how much more I can take

The vibrations are always the worse when I wake up from sleep although for the past couple of days they have stayed with me during the day too only mildly and yes the heart palps too. The vibrations are always in the inside. I can't see me shaking but I can feel it.

My symptoms came on suddenly too the first time I thought I had a pinched nerve in my neck as the vabrations where from head to toe. It was probably the worse one I ever had and then I jumped out of bed in full panic attack wondering what was wrong. From then on its happened every day. My body has been vibrating all day again.. I finally called my doctor to get my blood results and was gone for the day. She didn't sign off on the paperwork so another doctor couldn't give me the readings. The desk lady said you just had it done two days ago...why the hurry?..I broke down crying in frustration..I like you, don't know how much more I can take. Did I read in another post of yours that you had started HRT?

How long did they last and what did she do to lessen them?

No I haven't started yet but I'm thinking I will. It's 10.45am I just took 1/4 Alepam ( the dr gave me for insomnia, I've never used in my life before) and I just had two hours sleep. Every bit counts. I will take a half tonight as I am terrible with no sleep and makes all the adrenaline related symptoms so much worse. Omg yes when will you get the results then? Do you have any medication at all from the dr? I've never been on anything ever before but this two hours reprieve from the symptoms is like gold. I totally feel where you are at. My whole life has spun into unknown territory and I feel totally scared by it all. Do you get any other symptoms , every day I get a new one so I never know what to expect. I started two years ago with irregular periods and cramping but nothing in the world like this. My life got very stressful in April with two jobs and I I full time, parenting solo, then my car broke down, and then of my kids got sick so we were on the buses everywhere including to my lectures and the WHAM I started extreme anxiety and insomnia first that scared me so much, triggered so many past things for me and it has been a scary ride ever since. I quit my jobs and my studies as I couldn't cope with anything ! Let me know how you go with your results.

Oh I'm 48 and my periods are 4 months apart now. 🌸

She said they waxed and waned through the day for about 10 years and (you're not going to like this) still has them once in a while. She's 85 by now...

I asked if she really suffered from the vibrations full time for 10 years, and she replied by saying it at least felt like 10 years.

She got a prescription for hormones but was taken off of them by another doctor who told her they were not safe, which was true at that time. HRT is much more advanced nowadays, and relatively safe.

The pills did help though, and after quitting them she just endured her complaints. Which I am not planning to do myself, I want to get rid of this (and the insomnia, palpitations, dizziness etc.) a.s.a.p. I don't really care how. I've always refused medications for all kinds of complaints, but this one has made me surrender.

Update...so I finally get my blood tests back and everything was fine. Again my doctor specified she couldn't find anything specific on body vibrations.and menapause. She said I was already on something for anxiety so couldn't be that. I told her how violent my vibrations had been the last couple of days..(waking up like I was laying on top of a washing machine spinning on highes cycle). That was followed by a hmmm,,,well she put me on Clonidine for restless leg syndrom but warned me it will drop my blood pressure. I had to tell her I thought I had high BP anyways...so she looked through my file and said...oh..yeah you do...so this might help with that too. My body has been vibrating all day so I took my first pill...not ready for bed but couldn't take it anymore. I just want one night of good sleep without vibrations!. .

Thanks for the update Kay, was just reading the topic on internal vibrations on the Dutch menopause forum. It seems to be a quite frequent complaint since a few hundred shared their experiences about the vibrations.

One woman wrote about two homeopathic medicines she got from her GP (who seems to know about menopause causing these vibrations)  and it worked very well: no more vibrations and no more waking up in the middle of the night! She didn't mention which compounds she used but I'm trying to find out. Her post is quite old so I hope she's still on there.

Another woman wrote about getting rid of the vibrations by using a tailor-made Bach flower formula.

I guess we need to find a natural solution if we can't use HRT.

I agree..

Update...so a couple more weeks into the body vibrations. Not one night without them..they get worse as I lay there trying to sleep through them till I finally just get out of bed. Days like today they continue through out the day too. My doctor has prescribed me a RLS med three days ago but has failed to call it in so I haven't got to try it. Other than that she says she can not help me anymore...ugh.

Despite what drs say just putting internal vibrations and menopause into google this symptoms is on many forums so like you all i beg to differ.  I had terrible internal bouncing and external tremors along with head zaps.  I had both propranolol and diazepam which I took intermittently.  They helped slightly, but I hate to say it nothing completely got rid of it but maybe may it a bit more bearable on the really bad days.  This symptom drove me round the bend.  With time it gradually became less and less and then around 6-7 months post meno it went.  My honest opinion is its hormones and meds may lessen it but as they are dropping nothing really stops it completely.  Keep going ladies it will get better x

Update: Three medications later...Nothing takes it away. The vibrations have lessoned a bit from earthquake to idle so I can sleep a couple hours through them most of the time. .

I do have a basket full of herbs and supplements that I can't even pronounce left to try that I bought last week...I'm thinking it is just going to take some time to get through this and can't believe there isn't more information .on the net. Some talk

but no cure

So glad I found this forum. I am having these crazy vibrations every night. They wake me up at 3AM and continue until around 7AM..OMG I'm a wreck. I feel like I'm sitting on a washing machine. and my heart seems to skip beats or flutter. Nothing seems to work. tonight I will try cannibis.

Thanks for the update Kay, I'm sorry that nothing works for you yet, hopefully there is something useful in your basket!

I took a dive into hormone replacement therapy and it has become clear to me that bioidentical hormones, issued through plasters, can be a safe and effective remedy for our complaints. I've read several medical research papers about it which are all very clear about the positive effect and safety of this treatment.

Unfortunately the average doctor still prescribes synthetic hormones in pill form, and the wrong hormone (only estrogen), so I ordered some natural progesterone in cream form (which works about the same as the plasters). A well known (female) gynacologist who is specialized in perimenopause also recommends this so I'm confident it can't do any harm.

(She unfortunately has a waiting list of 8 (!) months so i can't get it through her).

The stuff will arrive in 2 weeks and I'm really looking forward to trying this.

I'll let you know if it works or not, meanwhile hang in there, I hope your sleep keep improving. We need our rest don't we, during this awfully bumpy ride:-s

Hi Kay how are you doing with your symptons?
