Having trouble urinating after possible bartholin abscess

The last week and a bit has been horrible for me.

My dr thought I had herpes after finding a large blister, so he put me on medication to try to clear it up.

I took 3 pills before I realized the blister had burst and I was finally starting to get relief. The relief was early Sunday morning.

By Sunday evening, the bladder trouble started to set in. I was at church and went to the bathroom, but could not urinate at all.

Got back to my mom's place and was able to go a bit. But the next time, I couldn't go again.

All of yesterday (Monday), I had issues with urinating, I would wait 5-10 minutes until I could go. Even then, it was either a trickle or a partial empty and I would be back in the bathroom a short time later.

It is now Tuesday morning and I can't go at all. I'm nauseated as well, and do have some pain in my lower abdomen.

I'm thinking it's a UTI, but I'm also thinking it's possibly urinary retention.

Ideas?

As this was 2 days ago I'm hoping you have sorted this out by now. If not you need to see a doctor ASAP or go to Emergency care.

Kristina, happened to me over a year ago.  I went to emergency and they fitted me with a catheter.  I think it is best that you go and have that taken care of at the hospital.  It also happened several years ago, I took sudfed for my cold, and that did something to my urinary tract, and I couldn't urinate at all.  Had to go to the emergency and the emergency doctor, placed a catheter and drained the bladder.  Presently, I have to self-cath several times a day to empty my bladder.  It feels great to have an empty bladder!  Good luck.

It has been coming and going over the last couple of days, was ok yesterday, but have not been able to fully drain my bladder today. It's not an issue of not being able to go at all now. I am still monitoring closely.
