Hazy/ cloudy eyes after cataract surgery

Had cataract surgery eight weeks ago...lens gave me 20/20 vision with great distance of reading signs up to 50 yards away...only problem that i've been hazy or cloudy and wont clear up...anyone have this issue and what was done to correct it?

Google “posterior capsule opacification”. It is said that “PCO occurs in 20-50% of patients within 2 to 5 years of cataract surgery”, so having it at 8 weeks seems early, but I guess it can happen. You should see the surgeon about it. The fix is to use a YAG laser to cut a hole in the capsule. This generally works well, but it significantly complicates the exchange of the IOL if that becomes necessary in the future. So I would not rush into a YAG procedure. But see your surgeon and see that he/she says.
.
If the eye has never been clear since surgery, it may be something else, that could be addressed without a YAG.

I developed Cystoid Macular Edema (CME) after surgery. I have diabetic retinopathy and the surgery made it go nuts.I had clear vision a day or so after surgery, then everything got hazy/blurry. Didn’t get any help until I saw my retina doc. There’s a simple test they can do to evaluate your macula for swelling–an OCT scan. Expensive, but isn’t everything? No shot, dilation, etc. needed. The doctor upped my steroid drops and it helped a lot, but I developed pressure issues. They eventually put me on anti-VEGF injections every 4-6 weeks trying to bring the swelling down–hoping to get off them soon. CME is only supposed to present in about 3% of cases, but I’ve seen some doctors say that is a lot more common than people think.7 months out from surgery on the 1st eye, and things are finally getting better, although vision isn’t stable yet.
