Headache, blind spot in center of eye, guttural speech,

My husband came home yesterday with a headache so severe that he threw himself into bed with his dress clothes on, had incoherent speech and complained of a blind spot in the center of his vision. He was asleep within minutes and slept 15 hours. (He usually sleeps 6 hours a night) The next morning his headache was diminished somewhat. Does anyone recognize these symptoms? Thanks for any direction.

Additionally he says he does not remember getting off the train & driving home. He never gets headaches.

I never had anything with my speech or a blind spot. He probably should make a visit to his doctor

These symptoms can be Migraine symptoms....but since he never gets headaches & has not been diagnosed with Migraines, he needs to see a doctor...I do not want to scare you but it could be a number of OTHER things and could be a warning of other medical issues still to come.....if it were someone in my family I would take them in and not wait...I have had Migraines since 1996, symptoms, duration & frequency can change and cause a wide range of issues...if it is indeed Migraine there are great meds for them...Best Wishes & pls DONT WAIT(only a doctor has the tools to be POSITIVE it is a Migraine & not something else) contact me ANYTIME

Hi Lin57, I had something rather similar. My speech was as if I had a stroke. Also, my arms locked with my elbows bent and my hands clenched. When this happens (it has happened about 5 times) my headache specialist said it was a Hemaplagic Migraine ( also known as a "Stroke" Migraine). Hope that helps. I have now had a migraine 24/7 for 8 years next month.

Also, I forgot to tell you, all I wanted to do was sleep. Try to find a Headache Specialist.

Spasm of his retinal artery. Can lead to permanent damage. It happened to me. I was young, I had another artery that only 20% of the population has in there eyes. It took over my central vision but I lost my peripheral. See a neuro opthomologist pronto.

It is aweful.
