So 3 days ago I stopped taking my sertraline for 2 days because I asked to switch to a different medication but I had some very horrific "withdrawals" it seemed too extreme to be a withdrawal,I had what people said are brain zaps? It felt like a nuclear bomb going off in my head and quickly spreaded I must say the feeling initially didn't cause any pain it was just a horrific feeling like a bomb going off or a wave crashing from one side of my head to the other. It happened probably 10 times in a matter of 2 hours I felt drained and began to have a constantly head ache and feel quite sick, I thought It was a stroke but apparently these withdrawals can cause these zaps. Anyways, I've had a bad head for 24hours now and still feel rrouggggghhhhhh as f**k! Haven't had any more zaps which i presume is because I started taking my meds again, but should I reallystill have a really bad headache and feel alittle out of it? And have a heaviness around my eyes?
Absolutely that can cause those kind of withdrawal symptoms especially if you just stop taking them. Genuinely when switching medication your dr should advise you to ween off them by reducing the amount you take over a few weeks. If from what you’ve wrote you just stopped for 2 days, your body will go into a state of withdrawal.
You’ll probably feel rough (headache etc.) for a week or so until the new meds even out in your body and your body accepts the new medication.
What dose was you on, for how long was you on the sertraline and what have you being put onto?
As said above you should have being weaned off really, specially if you had been on for long term and a reasonably high dose.
I swear by using diazepam when starting and/or increasing dosage of these sort of meds. It may be worth asking for a small d
