Headaches, light sensitivity, weakness, etc. for past 6-8 years

I’ll try to keep this as brief, yet informative as possible. I’ve been dealing with this “issue” daily for the past 6-8 years. My symptoms include:

- Headaches and migraines

- Lightheadedness

- Weakness in muscles

- Fatigue and sluggishness

- Occasional emptiness sensation in hands and legs

- Sensitivity to light

- Easily get disoriented

Some thoughts I have concluded from my daily notes is:

- I feel cold easily; hands especially.

- I get easily stressed from all types of activities (e.g. shopping, driving, working).

- I feel more energetic at night.

- I have self tested my glucose and heart rate during the “worse incidents” of my symptoms and both come back normal.

- I’ll admit I don’t typically have the best posture habits.

-On average I consume roughly 1200-1500 calories a day; vegetarian diet all my life.

- I have never had any of my symptoms in my sleep.

I am 5’ 10” and 120 pounds. I have not been able to put on any weight for the past 6-8 years; seems to be genetic for me. I recently graduated from college and currently work as a web developer (on computer 8+ hours a day). All my life I’ve been a computer nerd so I have spent a good portion of my life on the computer.

I have been to multiple doctors and had numerous test done. All have come back as normal minus two values on the blood test:

My thyroid seems to go in and out of range.

- Vitamin D has always been low.

I wanted to hear others experiences and thoughts on my situation. Any feedback/comments would be greatly appreciated!

Why has your vitamin d always been low? I assume since you mention being in your computer all the time that you have low vitamin d because you don't get any sunlight. You need to take vitamin d supplements. I can't put on weight either I never could. You have a high metabolism.

An overactive thyroid gland, known as hyperthyroidism, is one cause. Nervousness, fatigue, a rapid heart rate and weight loss are usual signs of hyperthyroidism. A doctor can have your thyroid tested if you are experiencing any of these symptoms and suspect your thyroid is the cause of your speedy metabolism. Or it's just nothing and it runs in the family. Your family is thin too. No blood circulation in hands. I say this because I have that too not on my hands but my calfs and I end up massaging the area hoping it gets better because my lower legs are in pain and hurt very much. It happens at night though or after walking in the store or all day or standing for a long time. I get bad headaches and migraines too. My mom gets them and sister also. My eyes are sensitive to the light also but I suspect it's because I spend all the days indoors and don't go outside so when I do I can't stand the sun not even with sunglasses. It's too strong for my eyes. I must be getting used to the darkness being inside my room. I get dizzy all the time it could be low blood sugar or not getting sufficient liquids. Water. Feeling cold can be normal since you're thin. I feel cold too I'm the only one shivering in winter even though they have the heater on in the store lol. I'm not a medical professional but your Doctor can help you tell him all your symptoms. Good Luck👍

I'm energetic at night too my experience is I won't stop talking to my mom even though it's 3 am in the morning and she wants to sleep. I'm so energetic I talk alot and jump too. 😞I guess it's the caffeine. I drink alot of soda. So maybe that's why if you drink it too. 👍

After all those years, I would be insisting on a referral to the hospital to see a specialist where they will have access to tests your doctor cannot do. They also have more knowledge on particular things, have you thought of ME, ?

hope you get a firm diagnosis soon, let us know what they tell you please

take care Carol
