Heading back to Citalopram (After a short agonizing break)

I took 20mg. Cit for 9 years then tapered too quickly (last pill in March), I’ve had to suffer the consequences of doing that (ie Insomnia, agitation and nausea). Now after a long thought I’ve decided to go back on Cit. It just seems to be the best thing for me to do right now. I shouldn’t have messed with a good thing. I maybe on it for a long time but should I ever quit I’m going to do it properly. I’ve ordered my refills. Now that I am determined to get back on, any encouraging advice?

I’ve just gone back onto 20mg six weeks ago and it was tough in the beginning but it has got easier, I’m still getting some anxiety but I am starting to sleep better as the citalopram did disrupt my sleep for the first five weeks. I’m glad I’m sticking with it though but I won’t be coming off it again.

Hi Mike,

Don't beat yourself up over it, you tried and I tried but we failed. So, life is a learning curve. At least now if and when we do decide to come off we will do it properly. In the meantime I hope you enjoy an anxiety free time.

did you tell your doctor that you were coming off the medication and does the doctor know that you want too go back on or are you still using the medication you had before

You got this Mike! All the best to you I hope you feel a lot better in the coming weeks! Were always cashmere if you need advice!

Always here if you need advice! **

I arrogantly did this on my own. I still have prescriptions refills. So I pretty much got what I deserved to say the least. I had no idea to was going to be this hard. I was very foolish.

Thank you Cassandra, I know everything will be fine!

Thank you Jayn! I can’t wait to get back to normal!

I went through the same thing stopped using them got bad now I’m on my 4 week it’s still sucks but I’m doing better when I started hope it works out for u

Thank you Mario! How long did you stop before you started back?

Hi Mike480. I feel for you and also hope that you know we are human and all too frequently have regrets about decisions made with the best intentions. I just sent money to the wrong person using my PayPal account. Boy, did I feel the anguish that comes with doing something that I should have known better not to. You will get back in track for sure. This will work itself out. I believe in this medicine but it took me 11 weeks to start felling better. Now, 12 weeks since starting the 30 mg dosage, life is so much better. I can’t believe the how quickly it changed from being anxiety riddled and down in the dumps, to clear skys all day! You will be fine!

Like 4 months ran into some big problems and got back into depression and anxiety so got right back on it

Thank you Kaycee! Is this your first time on Citalopram?

Oh foolish boy !

It took a year for me to withdraw the first time

No effects except I realised I needed to be on it 365 😂

It’s dreaful to restart but stick with it. Ride the waves again

You will get there again

Don’t mess with it this time !

Stay on it

Good luck
