I had a retinal detachment that included the macula in late September in my right eye losing most of my vision. I got in as an emergency within 24-48 hrs of detachment starting. My eye doctor injected a bubble with the pneumatic retinopexy procedure and two days later did cryopexy to secure the retina in place.
He says the retina looks great and healing very well. The bubble finally dissolved yesterday after a good month. I was hoping my vision would better with the bubble gone. Vision is 20/30 but still slight distorted, wavy and objects are about 15-20% smaller than my good eye.
Any thoughts/experiences on how long it may take to get back to normal 20/20 vision? I hope it continues to improve over time, but if it doesn’t I’m very thankful to regain most of my sight...

What caused your RD?
It was due to vitreous detachment. I also had cataract surgery earlier in the year which increased my risk.

Sounds like me. Had cataract surgery Dec.2015, PCO beginning of Mar.2016, Yag mid Mar. then Retinal Detachment Nov. 2016, right eye.
Since then vision is distorted & wavy on the right side of things I'm looking at. When reading my eye has to go to the end of the sentence to be able to see the line. Looking at objects have to do the same. This is using only the right eye. With both eyes it's not as noticeable . Now was told have PCO in left eye. As for the right eye, was told that's as good as it gets. But says everyone is different. Yours could easily get better. Wishing you the best.

What is PCO short for?
As an aside, I️ need a YAG procedure as well. My Doctor said it won’t increase risk of another detachment. Seeing the Doctor who did the cataract surgery before tomorrow to discuss at my 6 month follow up.
It stands for Posterior Capsule Opacification. The capsule becomes cloudy
(similar to a cataract) they break it up with Yag laser. It's specially made for that purpose.
Got it! I just found out I will need YAG for sure in the next 6 months. Been a busy eye year!
