Yes…ive been going through perimenopause for years but the past 2 years ive been so sick i cant even leave my house! I feel very nauseated all day every day, dizziness, so exhausted some days i can barely function, i also feel strange in my head like ive been drugged when i havent been. Im so scared to go anywhere! I never feel like the old me anymore. ive gotten so depressed about it ive cried, i tried to take antidepressants but they made my symptoms worse and added new ones! I really dont have any advice as im still suffering just as much as i was 4 years ago no matter what ive tried…but i wanted to let you know you arent crazy even tho you feel like you are and i feel your pain! ive done therapy myself but it didnt work…i dont think anything will
HI Jan,
I too have severe health anxiety, i’ve had to learn to rationalise with myself, which is really hard when you are going through it. My anxiety gives me really bad physical symptoms so if my head is feeling okay and not thinking anxious thoughts my body will react and then the anxiety is triggered off in my head again and i am back on guard - its a never ending circle.
A few things have helped me, talking to myself (im not crazy lol) i just reassure myself i am okay.
I get up and do something, from plumbing up my cushions in the lounge to putting on a load of washing, i also work to a plan each day for every hour between 9am - 6pm of what i should be doing, if i lose focus i pick up my plan and follow it again.
I am trying a new technique of drinking a cup of hot water in the morning, afternoon and evening, apparently it is meant to calm the nervous system i also hug a hot water bottle and it really helps.
Good Luck its not easy but with a plan to follow each day, a hot water bottle and keeping busy (but also taking time out to recoup) its helped me to get to where i am today x
p.s with you saying you are going on holiday, when ever i have something coming up which takes me away from my house my anxiety gets worse however i have found it soon calms once i am on my way to where ever i am going as i feel so proud that i am getting out.
Hi Jan. I know exactly how you feel. Ive been dealing with this for about 3 years now and peri is no joke. My moods are all over the place especially when my mense is due. I did counseling. for a bit and it helped. Therapist said many women in this stage who have never even suffered anxiety get it. I also try to keep myself busy and on really bad days I just lay around lol. I also find drinking a hot cup of water 3 times a day has helped and my heating pad is a life saver. You are not alone nor are you crazy. I know its hard but please try and enjoy your holiday. And hopefully this will come to an end for all of us soon…xoxo
