Health anxiety/ Anxiety in general

I’ve always been a worrier from what I can remember. Everytime I get an ache or a pain I think the worst of it. My head hurts, automatically start googling brain tumors. My heart beats fast, oh no I’m having a heart attack then on comes the chest pain. I check my pulse throughout the day, who does that? Me. Tonight the roads were snowy and bad, I thought to myself what if I need to go to the hospital and can’t make it because of the roads, I’ll die. I hate these thoughts, and I don’t know what triggers them but my main one is being dizzy, it can happen anywhere, I’ve left countless functions because of this. I hate this feeking, and I am going to the doctor to seek help, id like to do therapy and I refuse to do medication unless I get that bad.

Hi,

I have experienced similar thoughts especially before I seeked help. I didn’t like going anywhere on my own in case there was no one to help me if I collapsed or something like that. I always used to check my heart rate and sort of became addicted to checking it. I ended up counting how many times in a day I would check it and it made me realise how obsessive I’d become. Dr Google is the worst and I now very very rarely google my symptoms. We must try to break the habit of doing it, every time I thought I would check it I would get up and do something. Make a cup of tea or go through my wardrobe. Just something to try and distract myself.

I am waiting for counselling and am on medication, the medication is helpful but works hand in hand with us trying to change our thought process as well as a counsellors help.

Good luck seeking help, well done for getting an appointment. That’s a hard step to take ☺️ X

STOP GOOGLING,

Most health problems we have with health are minor, very few health problems lead to death or a massive ten hour heroic operation. You are half way there understanding that so get on with your life and enjoy your life journey. One thing I would not worry about is the snow, if needed they have ways or removing you from your home to hospital, it is very rare that they can not reach someone ill.

In my past I would climb and hill walk in the hills of Scotland and people did get stuck when they fell etc in snow, they would get them out there, so sitting in a town etc,no problem, so stop worrying

If you are worried about your Heart or brain tumor talk to your GP, you will most probably need medications and test to put your mind at rest

Stop worrying
