I am a full time college student who recently earned a job, however after receiving it I was told that only full time work was available. I told them that i was college during the day, so they comprised with giving me 5 evening shifts a week. I'm so happy about the position as I've been stuck for cash lately and it's coming up to the holidays. but my fear comes from how my week goes, I'm up for 6:30 to get the bus for college, back home at 4, work at 5 home at 1 Mon-Friday. I get roughly 4 hours sleep for 5 days and my health anxiety has gone through the roof, every little twitch or even a change in room temperature I think im going to either have a stroke or a heart attack. basically I just kinda want some ressaurance that it won't kill a relatively healthy 19 year old male. I also go to the gym those two days im off aswell. Thanks everyone in advance
Hello Gary.
I find that my anxiety is higher and more anxious thoughts occur when I am tired or take on too much.
If you are having to ask the question, then I think you already know the answer!! You are taking on too much. I'm not saying that's being active and occupied isn't a good thing because it is but you need to find a balance between activity and relaxation.
You are very vulnerable right now. That is evident because you say that your health anxiety has increased.
4 hours sleep is not enough for anybody, especially as while we sleep our minds are restoring and healing.
Don't burn yourself out Hun. I ignored the signs of depression and anxiety. I was far to busy to give them my full attention and just motored through my busy life. I may of had the occasional thought that something wasn't quite right but would brush it off and just get on with things. Then one major thing happened and it was like the straw that broke the camels back...I went from being a single mum, studying, working 2 jobs and running the home to a utter nervous wreck, feared if everything.
Look after yourself. Take time for yourself. Meditate and relax. Don't overwhelm yourself and land yourself in a place that you will struggle to get back from because believe me.......I wouldn't wish the last 25 week of my life on my worst enemy xx
I have been in fulltime work as well as regular rugby player. When I am tired I am at my worst. Take one\two days a week to have a really relaxing day and I found it has helped me alot.
Rest is great :-)
You said it.
I agree.
Gillian thank you so much for your elaborate and personal response, it really helped me back in that time of need. You were right about my vulnerability in that state and I’m glad i got your response to get a clear understanding of what was happening to me. I decided on quitting the job because i couldn't keep it up and was fearful of the consequences if i continued to do that. Sorry for getting back to you so late but i just wanted to tell you that you really did help me and thank you.
