Hi, here is what happens……
when we are anxious, our brain sends out a hormone because it thinks we are in danger. So it tries to protect us and prepares us for "battle ". The hormone it sends out is called adrenaline and it can produce symptoms such as rapid heart rate .
keep in mind that these symptoms of anxiety cannot hurt you at all! They feel very uncomfortable and scary but that is all they can do.
I know exactly what that flip-flop in rapid heart rate feel like as I have had it for years on and off. The worst thing you can do is get anxious when you feel that because then more of the hormone is sent out and the symptoms can get worse. What do you want to do is acknowledge the symptom you're feeling in a calm way and then basically let it work its way out. The key is to keep your brain calm so it doesn't send out any more of that hormone.
if you need immediate help and you're having a hard time with it, you can search YouTube for panic attack emergency and they will guide you through it. There are several audios to choose from.
Also on YouTube are audios for general anxiety, getting a good nights sleep, etc. I listen to these every day especially when I'm lying down to sleep. I use earbuds for a better effect.
when you're having symptoms, you need to bring yourself back to the present moment with proper breathing. Breathing slowly through your nose making sure your stomach rises. Think of what the air feels like as it's coming in and going to your lungs . Then breathe out slowly through your lips as though you're blowing out a candle. Think of what the slightly warmer air feels like when you're blowing it out. This helps you focus on your breathing instead of the symptoms. Do this as often as needed.
If you can, pick up the book called mindfulness. It teaches you all of this and how to manage anxiety. It's worth the read. if you can, pick up the book called mindfulness. It teaches you all of this and how to manage anxiety. It's worth the read.
when we get these symptoms, there is some underlying anxiety that causes it. Sometimes people aren't even aware of it until they get symptoms. I found it very helpful to talk to a counselor who specializes in anxiety. This is often difficult to deal with on our own and it really helps to speak with someone else who sees this on a daily basis and who can help.
you will be OK! And don't forget… Try not to take life too seriously, remember to smile and laugh at things because that decreases anxiety., Get regular exercise , stay active and socialize and just do things that make you feel happy. 😁🌸🌸🌸
I used to have this problem and one day I thought I was having a heart attack my chest hurt so bad and I couldn't breath and felt faint, I finally calmed down and it stopped. I'm going through the same thing again but this time worrying about focal seizures.
