Long story short i have suffered with anxiety mainly health anxiety for years, i was taking sertraline up until about 4 months ago when the doctor and i decided that i was well enough in myself to come off the medication and see how i got on, rewind 2 months ago my husband and i were hit with covid19, we had all the typical symptoms however i was a lot worse as i ended up in hospital with breathing difficulties & left with chronic fatigue, after the worst was over things got back to normal however i have had ongoing issues with pain in my right shoulder blade & i spoke with my gp yesterday explained everything and she said she needed to speak with a partner and get back to me, she didnt call me back but she was asking questions about shortness of breath which i have still, hot spots on my calves etc which i dont have etc, anyway fastforward to 9pm last night and im sitting on the sofa when i literally felt my whole body go hot and as if everything had just been lifted out really light it only lasted a few seconds but enough for me to sit bolt upright and go onto full blown panic mode, i decided right go to bed but everytime i shut my eyes i woke up gasping as if i coulndt breath then too scared to go back to sleep… this went on for a couple of hours, years ago this would happen every night, im not sure whats worrying me the most but i think its the feeling i had whilst on the sofa its scared me big time as to why and now my anxiety is through the roof
people get hundreds of different sensations and more often than not, they are unexplainable. Many of them are due to stress and anxiety. I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless it keeps happening. Many times we have underlying anxiety and it comes out as symptoms like that. You are also most likely overthinking everything which will cause symptoms.
its important to get your breathing under control so that you don’t feel like you have to gas. There are some great short breathing meditations on YouTube that are very helpful. you need to bring down your anxiety level to reduce the symptoms. Do you things that make you feel happy, things that make you smile and laugh. Don’t be in your head too much! Don’t take life too seriously either. Go for refreshing walks, listen to relaxing music or meditations, Play a game with your husband or cards or something that’s enjoyable. Take care of your health.
