Hearing my heartbeat in my ear

I was doing some exercise at home yesterday and had only done no more than 5 mins or so and my heart was racing so fast/hard that i could hear a fast heartbeat in my ear. What could be the cause of that? I have had cardiology tests ie blood pressure, ecgs, event recorder, x ray and urine tests, all were normal. I am very unfit i never exercise but hearing my heartbeat made me wonder if maybe i should of had a stress test as i did tell the cardiologist i used to get palpitations after exercise but my event recorder which i worn after exercise picked up palpitations but he reported them to be normal. It makes me worried to exercise incase i do have a problem and i pass out.

We get pulsating feelings all over our bodies. I get it in my stomach as the aorta extends from the heart to the lower body.

The blood can only flow in one direction and there are valves all through the circulatory system to prevent backflow. what you are probably feeling is the valves opening and closing.

If you are unfit get anexercise that gradually builds up your fitness level. Your heart has to beat faster when exercising to meet the demands of the body.

Good luck

Worrying about it is probably why your heart is beating hard and you can hear it in your ear. You have had all these test and you were fine ! Just a little unfit that's all. Trust your heart to do the job and also view your heart beating fast while exercising as a good thing! It's being exercised! That's the best medicine you can give your heart.

Hi Moo,

You are sensitized to this right now.  I'd suggest giong for a regular gentle 20 to 30 minute walk each day.  Concetrate on the rythmn of your steps.  Take it easy and after a couple of weeks, you will start to notice some difference

Best,

Linda
