Ok so I'm a 34 year old guy, had anxiety all my life and my GPs have told me my heart is ok however at work other day had chest pain, attended A&E and they said "nope, no heart attack but slightly long QTc, normal for some people" they repeated the ECG about hour or so later and it was normal QTc had gone back to normal range so emegency nurse said first ECG was probably wrong and the consultant had told her, to tell me to go home nothing wrong!
Great, but she'd already scared the hell outta me I've now spent last two days since reading up on sudden cardiac death, QTC syndrome etc!!
My other fear is my pulse, I'm wearing a fitbit with pulse tracker and currently laid on bed. My pulse has been dropping to 59bpm whilst laid here but then maybe few seconds later will be 64 / 65 maybe up too 70 odd (59 is quiet rare its usually mid 60s) .. Is it normal for my pulse to go up and down quiet quickly even though its only in small amounts?
My pulse when I attended A&E other day reached as high as 159 but settled to 113 by time of my first ECG and then to aound 80/90 ish by second one but was told id had an anxiety attack
I didnt want to ask the emergency nurse much else because she was a bit moody with me and didnt want to understand anxiety instead just said "get over it" and "try not to think about it" I did ask her about the sudden death thing and she said that it is VERY rare and that my ecg (2nd one) was ok and the consultant who reviewed it said it was OK
(also a week before my A&E visit I was at A&E again wth chest pain, ECG and cardiac blood enzymes done, all of which were normal)
Sometimes with an ECG they will take two measurements to get a good reading, it could have been a white coat stress at the first reading, and you were more relaxed second time around
The same applies to your pulse, it may have been you had been walking into the hospital and standing at the desk awaiting to register, that could change your reading making them higher, on the second time at rest the pulse rate would drop.
The same applies with your blood pressure you look like you were anxious the first time and when repeated the rate dropped to normal. Actually all your readings on re-take looked normal and I wish on occasions mine was as low Lol
My blood pressure taken last Tuesday were 128/85 although I am in my mid sixties.
Do not worry some of the readings can be effected by a pretty nurse holding your hand, while taking the tests
I have this constantly.. Same issues. My holter showed my heartrate got as low at 57 and as high as 169 during excersise. If they say you're fine, you're ok.. I'm having a horrible night myself. Your pulse will never be the same each minute. Its totally normal to move.. Now if you were laying down and it went from 59 to 120, then you could be worried.. You're totally normal.
I recently heard from someone I helped with their anxiety years ago. They were anxious all the time about their heart. Expecting a heart attack.
They shared with me something I said to them, which made the difference, so maybe it'll help you.
A typical heart attack brings about weakness. It's difficult to stand-up, and move. Most become extremely tired and worn out. If you are a person who experiences anxiety, and you are thinking about your heart, it's already likely your heart is fine. If you have increased energy and your mind is racing, you're not experiencing heart issues. You're once again experiencing Anxiety.
I have just finished a book on conquering anxiety. It will be published within 6 months. I'm certain it will help millions of people in need. I suffered for nearly 30 years. You will get better. Learn to relax as often as you can. Blessings to you.
I am facing problrm of heart escape beat and chest heaviness and burping problrm from 4 years,i have done 16 ecg in which one the 13 th ecg of me show pause between my heart beats though its not to much but my cardiologist wanna do holter ecg of 24 hours for me......i start googling before my holter ecg test can u believe dr google shoe mr lot of disease in short i am ready to implant pace maker for my heart google make me crazy ....after holter ecg test my result comes and it show 99% with no pause of heart...after that i do 2 echos 3 more ecgs every thing normal my cardiologist insure me that i dont have any problem.....my gp give me lexapro 10 mg tablets and also give me for acid reflux i have also a health anxiety but plz dont google other eise it will make u crazy
I have had the exact same problem and the really fast heart rate was what triggered my health anxiety now im constantly checking my health which isnt making my anxiety better, however I had ecg's and blood tests etc done i would find myself going to the drop in thinking i was going to need to go to hospital however the gp told me every time your fine, its hard to believe when your body is displaying such physical symptoms but my doc said which helped the more you sit and think about your heart rate the more your heart will race as thinking about it and worrying triggers the adrenaline which then puts your body into fight or flight mode and then that raises the heart rate but please dont google symptoms it made me have several panic attacks doing that and my gp even said the information on google 67% of the time is not correct and doesnt even come from health professionals its mainly peoples own understanding, i used to check my heart rate, pulse etc 24/7 then the doctor said check it twice a day then the next day check it once a day then the next day do not check at all and funny enough i very rarely check it anymore as it helped me learn to stop checking for things however if you find yourself in a state of panic and need reassurance put two fingers on your pulse on your wrist set a one minute timer and when you start the timer country every beat and stop when the timer ends, then you will know what your heart rate is. Hope this helps
In a similar boat here, I get heart palpitations a lot since my first panic attack and they kind of went away but for stressful times, went to the doctor for something unrelated and the nurse listened to my heart (I was having a panic attack at the time she was listening) and she told me I have a heart murmur and Arrhthmia, I flipped out and she said that I should go to a cardiologist for "peace of mind" but I know that lingo, she knows something she ain't telling me
So now I'm waiting a month for my echo (2 weeks left) freaking out everyday, my heart rate is hardly ever below 95 mostly it's 102 when I'm at home noticing it, heart flutters non stop since I went to the doctor, and I am now convinced when I get this echo in 2 weeks it's gonna be bad
I have already prepared myself tho to be told I have a problem and maybe I won't freak out so much as I've had a month to get ready to hear it
I find it hard to believe even after all the research that my heart palpitations and heart rate could be just "anxiety"
I have had 2 ekgs and a blood test done about a year ago and the 2nd ekg 4 months ago and the other doctor brought in an anxiety specialist and told me nothing was wrong with my ekg and my heart is Normal, but I read only an echo can really tell

My sister was told she had the same thing.. Hers was completely normal. My fiance was told he had an abnormal ekg and needed to go for an echo. Do not let it get to you. I know how hard it is, I struggle with the same issues. Your heartrate isn't that bad since you're anxious. Mine has gotten up to 149 just sitting when I'm anxious. It happens.
Don't be scared of the testing. Chances are it'll be normal if it's never been noticed before, and if there is something, it is good you are getting seen!
And trust me, I'm from a family of doctors and nurse's and if there was really something She thought would kill you or was extremely dangerous, she wouldn't have even let you leave without being seen by someone there. I've learned they don't mess with that kind of thing
