Does anyone have severe anxiety over their heart? I need someone to talk to.
Yes I do xxx
Yes anxiety about the heart is very common. As long as you've been checked out by your doctor and everything is OK then you'll be fine. Remember that anxiety increases the adrenaline released by the Brain. The adrenaline can cause rapid heartbeat, pounding heart beat, etc. when those symptoms are caused by anxiety they cannot hurt you or your heart or anything else. You would just need to learn how to manage the anxiety better. There's some great anxiety meditations on YouTube that have helped me a lot. They completely calm down my entire body. Another one that is really great is called "mindfulness breathing guided meditation 10 minutes". When I do that my heart rate is perfectly normal. I do this anytime I start feeling anxiety.
The problem isn't so much the symptoms it's that many people don't know how to manage anxiety that causes symptoms.
The key is to relax your mind as much as possible. Another thing that help me is counseling. It really helps to talk to someone else. Hope you feel better soon
Yes I do when I was about 22 years old I started to get skipped heart beats and they scared the crap out of me this then turned in to anxiety over my heart! I'm 36 now and still my anxiety is bad, I've had tests done and all is ok...was given propranolol which helps
Yeh mate, I used to have it very badly for about 6 or so months, started a year ago finished 6 months ago or so.
I'm 22 and quite fit, had been going to the gym as usual but one week had a cold and continued to go. Fast forward a week later and I was at work at my desk and all of a sudden got hit with this real bad chest pain right where the heart is, all the other symptoms of a heart attack were present, clammy palms, fast hear rate, dizziness, tingling in arms, almost feinted. Had to get rushed to doctors then hospital for ecg's and other tests. Nothing wrong.
Still kept having the pains in my chest and elevated heart rate, struggling to breathe at times, had more heart tests done, actual scans and all, still nothing.
After exhausting all of these possible heart issues, I read about pain in the chest in that area and something known as costochondritis. Basically to do with the muscles between the ribs in that area and connected to the sternum, went and saw a chiropractor and low and behold she confirmed that I had this costochondritis.
But even then the next 4-5 months I struggled every day. See, that day when I first thought I was having a heart attack, my body suffered a massive panic attack (my first one), it took me months to get my heart anxiety back under control over those months, even though it was confirmed my heart was perfectly fine, it still sits in the back of your mind that you have all the symptoms..
Drop a reply if you wanna talk about anything mate.
Hi yes this is also my biggest problem and the reason why I have general anxiety, as being constantly anxious about my heart has sent my whole body and mind into meltdown. I’ve had some tests (2 ECGs which came back fine) but I am convinced not everything is fine as I still get palpitations and very weird sensations in my heart - I am aware that palpitations go hand in hand with anxiety but since being a child I have always been aware that I have strange heartbeats. Have you had any tests?
Hi, yes I've had this for 4 years after one single incident where I was in bed and suddenly my heart rate went really fast out of the blue. Immediately after I had a few weeks of awful panic attacks (first time ever) and despite masses of tests including an electrophysio examination, nothing other than ectopic beats was found. The ectopics still scare the hell out of me and I have regular lightheaded, feeling weak, but never fainted. Health anxiety is awful.
I've had so many test but all it takes is any sort of pain on my left side and I freak out. Even my chest hairs catching on my tshirt can make me worry. I'll
Hold my hands up I was really stupid last weekend and turned to drugs to escape but obviously that's only made me worse and also made me worry that my heart is now damaged by the cocaine. It's entirely my fault. I don't deserve any help. Here if you need a chat. Maybe can help eachother. Who knows..
I've had so many tests and nothing has shown up but any pain on left side freaks me out. I can always feel like a pulse in my left arm/hand which bugs me. I'm not even checking for it either and I can still feel ill. Apparently it's all tension but I don't ever feel tensed but apparently you are. Yeah missed heart beats and irregular ones scare the life out of me. And I know when I check my heart and my chest muscle goes too it makes me get so scared.
What do you mean severe anxiety over your heart?
You feel your heart palpitating? You feel emotional distress?
For me, I feel like my heart does palpitate. As if my heart is beating harder than it should.
Let me know!
God Bless!
