Hi Greg
yes, anxiety can have hundreds of symptoms including rapid heart rate and skipping a beat. I always advise people to check in with their doctor when they're having any new symptoms just to make sure that everything's OK . that would give you peace of mind even though you had been checked out 11 months ago.
none of us on this site can tell you for sure if it's health anxiety related or something else. That's up to your doctor to determine.
However, you might want to try managing the anxiety to see if your symptoms subside . all anxiety starts in the brain. When you're anxious about something, your brain thinks you are in danger so it sends out the hormone adrenaline to protect you. There are many effects of adrenaline including racing hheart. So when people feel these effects they may become more anxious and the brain sends out more adrenaline. It's a vicious cycle! So the key here is to calm down the brain to help reduce symptoms.
any symptom brought on by anxiety cannot hurt you. They feel weird and uncomfortable but that is all they can do. So how do we calm down the brain? There are numerous ways but I will share with you what has helped me.
first of all, don't let fear take you over because that brings on negative thinking, anxiety, and more symptoms.
I really like the audio meditations found on YouTube for anxiety, depression, etc. they completely calm down my mind and body and they teach you how to separate negative and anxious thoughts from yourself. This is very important. I have been able to reduce or eliminate my symptoms by doing this and some other things a couple Times a day. Just search on YouTube for guided meditation for anxiety. I like to use earbuds for the best effect. I like one called clearing subconscious negativity but there are many others too.
whenever you get an anxious or fearful thoughts, practice deep breathing to keep yourself in the present moment. And away from the thoughts. Inhale slowly through your nose to a count of five making sure your belly rises Then exhale slowly through your lips like blowing out a candle to a count of five. Focus on how the air feels coming in and going out. This is what they teach in something called mindfulness and there is a great book with that title that teaches you how to reclaim your peace of mind and eliminate the negative thinking that creates anxiety.
if you ever get a fearful or anxious thought,, don't react with anxiety because that will produce more anxiety. What you do is acknowledge the thought then PictureIt floating off into the sky and dissolving. Do this every time and eventually it will become automatic for your brain to do. This is all covered in the book called Mindfulness.
so, follow up with your doctor, do the meditations and slow deep breathingfrequently, I find that exercise makes me feel better mentally and physically,
counseling helped me a lot also. Perhaps that would be the way to go for you also. If you could find a counselor who specializes in anxiety related issues because it's hard to manage in overcome on our own. And it really helps to vent to someone else. And maybe that counselor could lead you to someone else who could help you manage your diet and exercise for a healthier lifestyle. That in itself would definitely help relieve the anxiety problem!
stay active and social, don't forget to smile and laugh!
