Heart Murmur

Hi

I've suffered with Severe Health Anxiety for years but never taken meds as part of the anxiety is fear of GP, Hospital, Surgery and Medication.  I have been working hard to try and help myself recently as I've been feeling rotten for the last 18 months or so.  I had to go to GP due to my Asthma getting worse and just last week the GP prescribed me with Prednisolene for 3 days. I took it and went back today. Dr examined me and said my chest was clear but he did say he'd like me to have an ECG (Ultrasound) as he thought he detected a very faint murmur (something to do with the flow of blood) in my heart.  He said he's not at all worried and it's just a precaution but I'm getting pretty scared again now incase this could be more serious?  Does anyone else have this type of flow murmur and how does it affect you?

Read the book titled DARE and you will be free.

My sister went to the cardiologist at the age of 8 for a suspected heart murmur. It was nothing to be concerned about and ended up being nothing. If he thought it was highly serious or dangerous, he wouldn't have sent you home. He's being cautious, which is great.

Hey, I had exactly the same thing! I went to the doctors one day and he said I had a heart murmur, probably nothing but get it checked out anyway. I had all the tests and come back as nothing, I saw on one page that severe anxiety can create them sometimes, it's just the sound of blood going through your heart, better to be checked out but usually nothing.
