Last year I was diagnosed with a 2cm hernia at the top of my stomach/esophagus. The symptoms have become steadily worse and now I deal with heart palpitations after eating. No matter what I eat, my heart beats heavily after eating for about half an hour.
This is just on top of all the other symptoms I have.
I have an appointment to go for another gastroscopy and an upper GI in August. Long time to wait but I have no choice.
In the meantime I take Omez (omeprazole) when it gets unbearable. It wasn't even prescribed to me, only given to me by someone who tried to help.
Hi bianca,I,ve had an hiatus hernia for over 2 years and have been on omeprozole all that time. It,s a known fact that HH does some times make you feel like you are having a heart attack it is something to do with the vagal nerve that goes from your stomach to your heart.I also have AF which is a heart flutter caused by the electric signals sent to your heart.I go on a forum called healthlock for us AFers and it seems that a lot of the heart flutters are caused by the body being short of magnesium and also being on antacids(Omez) for any length of time also effects the magnesium levels in the body,I,ve felt nausius for over 2 years and have just found out the lack of magnesium causes this and other feelings so I,ve started taking 250 magnesium suppliments hoping it will help.I,ve just had another endoscopy and they found loads of ulcers as well so I,m waiting for the biopsy results to see if they are acid related or bacterial.hope you find this advice helpful but if I was you i would go to the docs and get the antacids from him to be on the safe side. good luck.
Hi I too have a hiatlal hernai about the same size as yours for about 3 years I too get palapatation after eating so you are not alone I do it get them all the time but very frequently also my heart rate will increase for a period of time after
Thanks argzxoni, I will definitely look into magnesium supplements!
