blimey i am getting really bad heartburn within an hour of taking my mirt, it really hurts! i then drink water, then i need to go to the loo and this becomes a cycle, i am taking mirt to help me sleep and its not happening. still got sore throat, sticky eyes and am feeling very tired.
what dose are you taking Annie? Usually mirtazapine is sedating in the lower doses ie 15mg. I am taking 30mg and I still sleep until about 5am. Are you drinking enough water with your meds? Mirtazapine should not be giving you hearburn unless you are not completely swallowing them? There could be another reason for the heartburn? The other symptoms may not be attributed to the mirtazapine they could be to do with your depression. Maybe in the short term you need something to help you sleep? A chat with your GP might be in order? I expect that you have tried a warm bath, gentle music etc before you go to bed? I hope you feel better soon.
I am in day 34 of stopping Mirtazapine, after 1 year on it, and have had TERRIBLE WITHDRAwals COMING OF IT. I have had almost unbearable heartburn and acid trouble during this withdrawal phase. So yes Mirt does cause problems with the stomach!
I wasnt prescribed Mirt for depression so heartburn was not caused by depression or anything else, in my case .
