Hi there, I'm new to this, 3 months ago my periods suddenly changed, were very heavy, prolonged and painful. Ultrasound diagnosed multiple small fibroids, cysts and a thickening at the top of my uterus which my GP thinks could be a polyp. As the bleeding was so bad I was prescribed Norethisterone, tranxemic acid & metafemic acid. I stopped the Norethisterone for the 7 day break and was passing multiple large clots and I think the lining of my uterus too. The GP told me to restart the Norethisterone, which I have, but after 7 days I am still bleeding. I am so worried, I am crying all the time, can't eat and I have high anxiety. Waiting to see the consultant, which terrifies me but also I am desperate to get this sorted. Has anyone else had similar symptoms to me? Thank you
I know exactly how you fell. Here's a link to my thread (of the issues I was going through): https://patient.info/forums/discuss/submucosal-fibroid-274328

Well, you have come to the right place for support, everyone will know how you feel.
I to have been passing large clots for the last 7 days, and know how it feels, making life impossible. What dose of Norethisterone are you taking -5mg 1 to 3 tabs 3 times a day. Has the tranxemic acid not helped. My consultant gave me both to try and ease the bleeding.
Seeing the consultant is the best thing that can happen - when is that, soon ? Once you see a consultant you will be on the road to getting it managed and treated, so don't be scared.
Things to try in the mean time:
*I took a teaspoon of apple cidar vinegar with a drop of water, you can do this 3 times a day and for me it helped with the period pain, though it might not be instant.
*Also try raspberry leaf tea, this can help the period flow better so less pain.
*keep up with the Norethisterone my consultant says its ok to take for weeks at a time.
*if you are passing a lot of blood and not eating, you might become anemic so start taking some iron - you should be able to buy ferrous sulphate 200mg - take a couple a day or any liquid iron supplement will be good also.
first just calm down.we all know how your feeling and what you're going through.first you must change your entire diet.no more processed foods fresh fruits and vegetables only take away meat from your diet.you can eat fish.you must remove any refined sugar from your diet that's what feeds the fibroids and make them grow.a natural way you can battle this is by taking one and a half teaspoon of baking soda 2 teaspoons of lemon juicemix it with 7 ounces of waterand drink four times a day, that will naturally shrink themand relieve you of any pain you may have.eat a lot of food with fiber dark leafy greens broccoli Swiss chard chia seeds beans flax seeds.choose whole grains brown rice buckwheat, rye and oats.your lifestyle must completely change now if you want to battle this.
Hi everyone, thank you so much for your advice, I will definitely be taking it. I have just lost 21 pounds trying to be more healthy but I still have some way to go, I am hoping to see the consultant next week, just waiting for an appointment, it can't come soon enough! The northisterone I'm taking is 5mg 3 times a day, I just don't know why it hasn't stopped the bleeding! Last month it did and I had 3 weeks of no bleeding but now there is no let up. The traxemic acid doesn't seem to have much effect either. I am sure the anxiety and stress is not helping, yet again today have had to cancel plans and am just sitting in bed miserable x
Hi there, like someone has already said you have come to the right place, I am an older woman (61) but have similar problem to you(uterine thickening/polyps) though have only been prescribed Tranexamic acid which fortunately has helped a lot, I have also heard that Ibuprofen can help with the bleeding/clots, I have been taking occasionally, obviously don't take if you have an ulcer or have ever had one (ask your doc), I have seen a consultant this morning and I suffer with panic attacks so almost didn't go (but knew I had to), he performed a Hysteroscopy (think that's right) , it is good that you have a consultant appoinment then you will know what's what and start getting the right treatment, Try to keep your chin up, get the consultant appt out of the way and keep coming on here to share your anxieties as I myself have and found it so helpful to have ladies to 'talk' to who are in similar situations.
Hi, thought I would update you, saw Gyny yesterday, he is getting me in for an urgent hyteroscopy under general. Will be no later than 24th nov, he will do a biopsy too. Assuming all ok he said I would either have an ablation if I'm the right candidate or hysterectomy. Feel better that something is happening, but worried about results x
well thats good news that you have gone things moving quickly. It is worrying but remember that you couldn't go on the way you were so whatever happens with the results, it can only get better
Glad you are not going to have to hang about waiting, there is nothing worse, I also had a biopsy done yesterday, didn't mention it in my other post as didn't want to freak you out, I am hoping for a Hysterectomy (odd I know) but have been told I may have a D&C, again all depends on results.
Thinking about you :0)
PS. I don't think it was a Hysteroscopy I had yesterday (though haven't a clue) but consultant did do a biopsy.
