Certainly you need to stop for a minute and appreciate the kind words from so many guys on this forum whom you have helped. Let those kind words lift your mood and spirits. As you already know, the right frame of mind can go a long way toward improving your physical health.
We’re all wishing you all the best. Take care.

Hey Ken
Thank you. It nice to hear I have done some good.
I’m trying to move forward. That is the best I can do. Don’t want to fall back in a bad mood. My mind can go to some bad places.
Thanks again for your thoughts…Ken
I would never take an antihistamine as they affect the prostate
Hey Hank
You have to watch with antihistamines.
Any man that has a enlarged prostate should not take any medicines that have antihistamine and decongestants in it because it can cause retention. Ir can happen with one pill. They say if you take it and have not pee in 6 hours go to the hospital.
The ingredients can constrict the prostatic capsule Please be careful…Ken
As Ken has said the dangers are warned in the leaflets with the medications. Quite a few men on this Forums have told how they were affected by them.
Most people can take antihistamines safely. Antihistamines should not be used by people with a rare metabolic disorder called acute porphyria. In addition, they may not be suitable for people with liver or kidney problems. First-generation antihistamines may not be suitable for men with prostate enlargement (benign prostatic hyperplasia). They may also not be suitable for people with raised pressure in the eye (acute glaucoma) or who are at risk of glaucoma.
Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding are usually advised not to take antihistamines. This is because it is not known if they do any harm and studies cannot be done on women in this situation just in case. However, they are not known to cause harm. If certain conditions such as hay fever or morning sickness make you very unwell in pregnancy, the benefit of treatment may be more than the very small risk of any harm. Your doctor would talk this over with you and prescribe one of the antihistamines believed to be safe in pregnancy if you choose to take one. Similarly, in breast-feeding women, in some cases the benefits may be more than the risk. Antihistamines do come through in small quantities into breast milk, although they are not known to cause any harm.
A full list of people who should not take antihistamines is included with the information leaflet that comes in the medicine packet. If you are prescribed or buy an antihistamine, read this to be sure you are safe to take it.
Hey Derek
Good morning. I was going to put more in my post but just wanted to say something about men with BPH problems.
Did you get anymore sleep yet. I’m still up was in bed for a few hours but no sleep.
Have a good morning…Ken
I had three one hour spells and feel wrecked or as we say here knackered this morning. Still its a lovely sunny day but only 41F with a stiff 14mph breeze coming off the English Channel. Going out soon so that should freshen me up a bit.
For sleep ask your Dr about mirtazapine. No guarantee but at 15mg you will probably get at least seven hours of sleep on a regular basis. Sleep affects so many other aspects of health so start with that and maybe the rest will follow.
Good afternoon
Well I went to bed about 7 am and fell a sleep for about 3 hours. I woke up because I had to pee. My son is off today so we will go out for pizza later. It’s 62 here in Orlando. Have a good day. Water is about 45 minutes away. I live in the center of the state it all depends on which side you want to go it.
Ken
James
Thank you I will ask the doctor. I know the body does need sleep. Years ago when I was working I got 4 to 5 hours but as we get older out body’s need more to keep the body healthy
Thanks again…Ken
Thanks Derek and Ken. I know there are risks with diphenhydramine but I think sleep is more important, at least for me. Take care.
How long have you been taking mirtazapine ? Is it OK to take it nightly? Is it better than diphenhydramine, an antihistamine? Thanks.
Hey Hank
Please just be careful…Ken
We went to Orlando many years ago on our way to the Mardi Gras. We stayed at a Comfort Inn out on Orange Blossom Highway as they provided transport to local attractions.
The next time was briefer as we got off the Greyhound from Tampa and took a cab to the train station to go on to West Palm Beach.
We have had several posters over the years whose prostate problems started with taking Antihistamines
That is good. Things have change over the years. I uses to love to go fishing maybe I will do that again just to get out. Coco beach is about 45 minutes. We used to fish in banana river. It were the ocean and river meet.
Orange blossom is where the mall is at. Nice area. I don’t go to the parks anymore. Cost to much to go. I’m not paying $125 a person to get into the parks and you still have to pay $29 for parking.
I don’t know how people can afford to go. It’s not worth it to me…Ken
I can never understand why people keep on going back to the parks. Surely once is enough. Here we only hear of Disney World, Epcot seems to never be mentioned now.
When we were in Naples FLA they were fishing from the pier and simply pulling fish out of the water. Unfortunately the pelicans were swallowing them off the fishing lines and getting hooks stuck in their mouths.
Derek.
Yes I have not been to the parks in at least 15 years. It is the same thing and all the parks have the same menu. $12 for a hamburger and fry’s. You can have it.
I look up about fishing. Years ago when My kids were small and we would go. You did not need a fishing license if you fished on land only if you went in a boat. Now you have to have one. You don’t need one if your 65 or under $16
I will check how much it is and see if it’s worth it. When I was younger I use to pick worms. I should my kids how to do that. I thought it was a lot of fun
