I have recently been told that I have sarcoidosis in my lungs. My cough is driving me mad which I have now had for 2 years. I had a broncoscopy and lung wash 6 weeks ago and have an appointment at hospital this week.
At at the moment I am really struggling with cough and feeling so uncomfortable as I think I have pulled a muscle in my right shoulder blade..
any my suggestions to help please. Feeling very vulnerable.
Thank you.
I also was diagnosed with lung sarcoidosis last summer after complaining of persistent cough. I was prescribed a steroid inhaler which has really helped the cough. Hope you will get relief soon.
Hello Flo. Sorry to hear that you have also been diagnosed. What is the name of your steroid inhaler please ?
do you find the cold weather also makes cough worse ?
Hi Sue
I have also had a persistent cough of two kinds. One is a dry cough due to lung issues and the other is a more productive cough due to a constant nasal drip from rhinitis. Besides being extremely irritating for me and those around me I also pulled muscles and got a sore chest from coughing.
I was recently given a steroid inhaler called Clenil (beclometasone) and also a beclometasone steroid nasal spray. Both have given much relief from the cough.
Hope you can get some relief with treatment.
Mairie
Hi Sue, it is Clenil modulate 100 mcg (brown) inhaler on prescription in uk. No I didn’t notice my cough much over the winter.
Are you also seeing a pulmonologist that knows sarcoid? Good diet helps 😁 cut back alcohol and if you smoke try and quit 👍🏼 Eat plenty
Anti inflammatory foods, drink more water per day and add more exercise 😁
Thank you Maisie much appreciated. Hope you keep well. Sue
Hello Big Mack
he is not experienced in sarcoid so I am going to ask to be referred. Alcohol not a problem and luckily never smoked. Not a good water drinker. But will put this top of list. Exercise. I go to gym but struggling at present.
Thank you Mac. Keep well. Sue
Thank you Flo. I will suggest this to doctor. All the best. Sue
THe coughing can cause pleurisy inflammation of the lung lining it’s painful, some will treat it with antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds. Please let them know. God bless
The water and less stress is very important so however you accomplish that go for it!
Hi Sue, when l was first diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and following a biopsy l was prescribed with an inhaler called FOSTAIR, its a steroid inhaler hich certainly has taken the cough away for me. And is available on prescription in UK, so ask your doctor to get you taking it. I simply do not have the painful cough any more and the cough would have me on the floor in painful fits at the beginning of my journey with Sarcoidosis.
I wish you well
Kind regards
David.
Thank you David for your advice.
In wish you well too and a little luck thrown in
all the best Sue
No worries Sue, sometimes it can be a lonely place battling this debilitating condition on our own. Having the opportunity to chat with folks who have also experìenced the symptoms and pains is a great step forward for me too.
Bon Chance to you too.
David
