Hello. I am 24. I was diagnosed with severe Bronchiectasis in march, after the whol year of 2005 suffering numerous chest infections which wouldn't clear with antibiotics. i had a ct scan and a bronchoscopy which was rather unpleasant followed by 2 washings, i have it in both lungs. i had whooping cough at 6mths and was admitted to hospital for 2wks. i always have had the odd chest infection but, in 2003 i statred work in a dusty warehouse, then i lost 7stone and got very poorly. i cough up blood and phlegm every day and my mum and sister do postural drainage on me morning and night. a couple of weeks ago i got to the 2nd stage interview for being an air hostess but when they found out about my condition i was declined on the basis of my health. when i told my boyfriend he went a bit weird and said he was worried i was going to die, i explained and he now understands that its one of those things that i got to try and live with. after the washings i felt better a day later the difference was amazing, i realised just how ill i was but, as winter nears that's when you start getting the really green stuff up! i'm adviced to have washings every year until i die and i visit the cheat consultant every 3mths. one thing that helps me is 10mins on a facial sauna every night (available at chemists for about £10), not eating dairy for some peculiar reason (when i eat dairy i start hacking 5 mins later) and lopts of walking and swimming once a week. i alway's wrap up warm because i feel the cold more. i would be grateful for any other tips. thanks. miss h.
