Hello not feeling well pain in my chest on and off and very tired, feel a little sick

Well I just feel so tired really and not right.

I take levothyroxine since 2002 100mg per day and also telfast for allergies.

Plus nasal spray for chronic rhinitis, which again i have had for years.

I had what the doctors said IBS, started in 2013 and then eventually they did some tests. colonooscopy, barium xray and then proctogram.

he colonoscopy Report I was given after the procedure on 6 Feb 17 said

Perianal lesions: 3 haemorrhoids (2nd degree) and skin tag within

The colonoscopy said the below.

Haemorrhoids and mild degree of rectoanal intussuseprion.

and the proctogram said,

"This investigation showed the presence of a large enterocele which at the end of the test is compressing the superior aspect of the rectum at the anorectal junction while no intussusception was shown and the rectum was seen to have rapid emptying.  The anorectal angle opens regularly and amoderate sized anterior rectocele was almost completely empty at the end of the test, not to be considered significant and no intussusception was demonstrated.

So the only way to correct this is an operation to hoist it up and use mesh to hold it back and up against my backbone. Going in through my tummy, keyhole and hopefully they wont have to slit me open.  For now not having op as cant afford to be off work or lose my job.

So when I get things back up feel unwell inside but not I have chest pain too in the middle of my chest, thats been building up for a month. the doctor gave me montelukast 10mg to take at night, it opens the airways. he thought maybe due to allergies as I am allergic to grass, trees etc and time of year he thought, but never needed to take these before.  I dont use inhalers.  i have a slight cough at times too, I dont have anything to cough up, just a slight little cough at times.  So not sure what this pain in my chest is. Also feel really tired.

I am having a fasting blood sugar as it was 3.7 when taken recently and that was after a meal. blood test at 2pm. I went to the doctor and said 4 is min and he said others have this level and ok but he will check with a fasting blood test. so if blood sugars low what does that mean?

Work is stressful and I have been through a lot of stress too in 4 years as separated from my husband, then divorced and problems with the older children and having to keep in employment as did not have a perm job so contract and temp work always finding the next job to bring money in.

anyway at the moment just dont know whats wrong just feel so tired, nauseous at times and chest pain, chest pain been there for over a month now thats why I went to the doctors as was getting fed up of it. he listened to my breathing and chest, took blood pressure. peak flow was 320. I am 5ft 2 inches and average weight. Age 54. Non smoker. 

Anyway anyone with chest pain and just feeling oh so tired and no obvious reason yet? and blood sugar 3.7?

wonder if CFS?

I did have glandular fever, never had it before that was in May went back to work after 3 weeks as afraid of losing my contract.  Since then sore throats each day, but not bad bad, little ones, that come and go, weird that.

Also had problems with ears over the last few months. Tinnitus bad but better after de-waxed, as did not know lots of wax in them, but the left ones been bugging me for two years and said to doctors and have lost so hearing.  I was given Otomize ear spray as the doctor said he could see some skin cells so might be dermatitis in my ear, and given me that to calm it down and better since, but still get pain every now and then radiating into my face, but my ear feels better that it did, although not quite right.

So all in all fee I am falling apart but still need to get back to work, as signed off for 2 weeks but cant take any longer as need the money.

Michelle my heart goes out and over the pond to you. I don't know the answer to all those individual problems. 

Chest pain can be a sign of stress. Like a headache except in your chest. In my experience that happens to people about our age. If the doc says you haven't got angina, then its most probably stress. Unless you have hurt your ribcage by coughing - but you say its only a slight pain. Another cause of chest pain which manifests above the stomach and below the right ribs can be stomach acid esp in that place, reflux esophagitis: try taking a good antacid like Gaviscon and don't drink or overfill your stomach especially before sleep.

CFS/ME: fatigue is associated with so many conditions a definite diagnosis is difficult. Certainly the glandular fever could cause onset of a post-viral condition. The classic sign of post-viral illness is a delay between exertion and symptoms. Do you have some days which are particularly bad and if so, what symptoms do you have? If so keep a brief diary to track it. Give yourself a daily  score between 1=awful and 10=totally healthy; at the same time write down what you do each day. Then you may spot a pattern.

CFS is a condition which is not 'being tired all the time,' as that would be alleviated by rest. CFS causes fatigue which is NOT substantially alleviated by rest. Rest just compensates, it doesn't lead to true convalescence.

You may also experience agitation like your adrenals are working overtime - this is a known cause of fatigue: the thyroxin dose could be too low? Anyways CFS causes fight/flight symptoms and a key test if CFS is the cause is whether it happens when you are happy just as much as when you are unhappy. If laughing and crying both bring on symptoms, I'd be likelier to look at CFS as the cause.

I wouldn't be sure of your diagnosis as your glandular fever was relatively recent. I am not a doctor. Without more information all I can do is offer what I know. Hope this is of some help.

Hello Philsey thank you for your reply.

I will keep a diary as you say how I feel each day. Happy, sad, if I feel under pressure not able to cope. How I feel when I get up, mid day, afternoon, evening etc.

Whether I feel exhausted when I wake up, and I normally do feel tired and have to think ok Michele get up get ready get into work, you have too.

I have had depression 25 years ago after my daughter quite bad depression, and then a little after my middle child 21 years ago, but not so much after my last child 15 years ago.

I feel happier when off work, as oops I get bored easily and when working if its jobs I dont like I hate it, but I have to go in as I have to earn money, thats the way I think it.  I have applied for some more jobs and hope to get on in customer service as I like the interaction, and good a people person, but its hard to get jobs at times. Thats why I have had job after job and applied for over 60.  I am in a good job at present but the contract runs out at the end of Sept and in this contract I have had glandular fever. I have not been off work prior to this in over 6 years as always go to work but of course on that occasion thought wow I feel really bad I cant go to work and it turned out to be glandular fever.

My bloods have been checked last week and thyroid levels are normal on 100mg leveothyroxine (underactive since 2002). Iron and B12 etc normal, and lately been taking mutli vits and Vit B and calcium tablets to boost myself as felt need to try and make myself feel better, so the blood tests are whilst taking these vit tablets.  The only thing the doctor is now getting done is a fasting sugar test. Sugar test was 3.7 non fasting last bloods and that was a 2pm blood test and been out for lunch prior to this.

Does CFS make you feel down? Sad?

Oh yes, it makes you depressed. First fatigue is always upsetting because you can't do what you normally could, and that would make anyone depressed. But its not a mental illness, you can't just 'pull yourself together. So yes I'd say sad is probably the right word.

That medication is for thyroid issues so if you have thyroid issue that really excludes you from being diagnosed with CFS.

Are you sure you had glandular fever because people do not just return to work after that it can take months if not years to get over that some people never get back to what they was before and older people it tends to hit them even harder.

It sounds like you have had a lot going on in your life so if you put together the health issues and the mental stress it does explain why you would be feeling like this.

I would think about switching doctors from what you have described all they appear to want to do is prescribe if you have hearing problems go to a hearing center and get it checked a doctor could forward you to hospital clinic for this but you could be waiting upto 9 months it is easier to go to one yourself many are about.

Next thing I have mentioned this in many posts it is one of my specialty fields you need to look at your lifestyle/diet people really under estimate how this impacts us and most doctors really do not have a clue with nutrition when we went through medical school we didn't even spend more then few hours on it and what we are told to tell patients is guidelines from people like nhs which really is misleading information.

Out of interest which other blood work tests have you had done and do you know if you have any family history for diabetes, heart disease etc?

This is untrue. You can have a thyroid deficient system AND also have CFS/ME. I have hypothyroidism and have been treated with Levothyroxin for 3 years now. It may or not be associated but having an  underactive Thyroid gland is not mutually exclusive with a diagnosis of CFS.

This is untrue as I have both hypothyroidism and ME.. I have been treated with Levothyroxin for 3 years now. It may an entirely separate condition but an underactive thyroid does not preclude a diagnosis of CFS.

Who told you this?

The problem is a lot of doctors diagnosis me/cfs now because it is a term they can use for when they really do not know what a person has based on some symptoms.

The people I know that are specialists in me/cfs field would straight away exclude a person with thyroid issue even official guidelines state this i believe even me association will tell you the same thing.

Have you looked into that you may have intolerances? There are companies out there that perform intolerance tests.

This is not something that a regular doctor would be able to test for .

It's a different type of test . I'm not sure exactly how it works but it show all up non lg reactions . 

Reactions can be severe or non existent from intolerances . Without going into too much detail . 

I just had an intolerance test privately from a company   300 items .

Got my results back just this week and shocking results. 

I am intolerant to tea , chocolate, lobster, gluten, corn and a few others. Also some non food items like dogs, guinea pigs , pollen and some others. 

I have stopped drinking tea (I was a heavy tea drinker ) and eating chocolate (I ate chocolate more or less everyday) and already feeling better. I used to wake up feeling achey all over and sick and I am already feeling better.

I would definitely recommend you look into getting tested for intolerances . As there may be some hidden serious intolerances in every day items you are in contact with that are making you sick and tired .hope this idea helps

I have had M.E. since 1991 and lost my job in 2002, with a diagnosis confirmed by four successive specialists from 2001 to the present. It is plain that several pathologies may contribute to fatigue, and that quite apart from M.E. people can anyways have several separate but simultaneous maladies as they age.

I happen to have developed hypothyroidism in the last three years, and am receiving treatment. However when this was diagnosed the doc did not say: 'Ah well, so you haven't got M.E. after all,' he said 'your thyroxin is below normal and this dosage of Levothyroxin might increase your functioning which may have been affected by your faulty thyroid glands'. Period.

Your case is different you later on developed this.

It is complex I and my team would look at the numbers because it is common for peoples thyroid to be slightly off this is why we would look at everything we can a lot of doctors do not do this.

Had you come in with thyroid issues and your number was highly raised or lower we would never diagnose me/cfs because the problems will most likely be down to that problem so what would happen is we try to treat the thyroid and then see.

The problem is with a lot of so called specialists there is no proper training for me/cfs and a lot of them go by teachings from the same people that came up with pace trial.

Have you tried paleo-keto diet? I have been seeing a lot of success with this for thyroid and me/cfs the big issue is a lot of especially long term suffers refuse to go through with it and if they do try they give up quickly because it does have a period you will feel worse
