For the past couple of years I've always had a very dark neck and underarms. Recently I've decided to do something about it and found out it was acanthosis nigricans. I am not overweight or have diabetes. Also I am getting tested for insulin resistance and PCOS. I'm only 17 years old but as a child I had high cholesterol so could that be the reason why I have this condition. If anyone else has had it can you please tell me how you got rid of it and how long it took. Thanks
If you are not diabetic why have you posted this in diabetic category?

I am using Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Overnight Treatment before bed, and then in the morning Proactiv Advanced Dark Spot Correcting Serum. Both products are available from Ulta stores. Been using for around one week now. Condition has nearly vanished completely from my skin. In the shower scrub gently with a washcloth. For me it gradually kinda washed off like dirt. I wish I would have taken before/after pictures....results have been astonishing.
