Help..after 6 months off Citalopram I'm STILL getting withdrawal symptoms

hi ..I've posted before and urged people on here not to give in to these feelings of withdrawal but to ride them out..I now find myself with anothe wave of symptoms..I know it is withdrawal and not the original illness which was severe headaches ..I am begining to think there is no end to my suffering..I'm anxious weepy and frightened

we have holidays booked this year and I'm not looking forward to them..

i am so very against doing back on medication ..I did a slow reduction ...has anyone got any advice please

When I came off these meds I was surprised at how weepy I was for ages.  I'd cry at anything!  I'm back on them though after a year off, only because the stress of a severe family illness started making me feel ill again.  Whilst off them I maintained my well being with 5-HTP.

When you're off Citalopram this natural SSRI called 5-HTP which needs to be taken with l-tyrosine.  Both can be bought from Holland & Barrett (if you're in the UK) and you need to take them both.  Read a book called 5-HTP The Natural Way to Overcome Depression, Obesity by Michael T Murray ........ it's a really interesting read.

You need to be off SSRI's completely before starting 5-HTP as they mustn't be taken together.I've started reducing Citalopram again and will go back on these eventually.

Thanks for the reply..the reason I won't go back on them is the insomnia.the sweating and the loss of my hair..all have stopped ..so I guess I'll have to ride it out..will visit H&B

My sleep rectified itself during my time on them, but must admit I have been hotter/sweater than usual :-(  Not experienced hair loss thankfully - that must be awful for you.

Yes do try 5-HTP and l-tyrosine - I found they worked a treat.  Get the book, it's so interesting reading how serotonin works in your body.
