Help ankle avulsion

I stumbled down a step almost five months ago went to a&e twice and had X-rays which were clear, said it was sprained sent me to physio, in agony and swollen physio eventually referred me for mri,Got my Mri report, oedema to talofibular ligament, avulsion fracture of the lateral malleoulus, small flake of bone displaced, torn abnormal thickened ligaments to anterior talar fibula and calcaneofibular and ankle instability will have to wait to be seen by ortho but am real scared have no boot or anything, will I need surgery

Hi. I had very similar injuries and I had surgery over a year ago as my ankle was unstable and dislocating which caused me excruciating popping sensations and swelling. I think you may well end up with surgery but it depends on the severity of the tears etc.

Mel

You might not. But you will most likely need a boot. Hopefully no surgery will be required. If Ortho doesn't give satisfactory answers or you desire a second opinion, I would recommend you go see a podiatrist. Specialist in all feet and ankle injuries etc. Good luck!!!

At a&e now to get it booted, I have appointment with orthopedic surgeon next Monday

Thanks for your reply Melissa how did surgery go is your ankle back to normal now

Well it's better but I still have pain and swelling to be honest. However I had my injuries for over a year prior to surgery so maybe I just have a lot of scar tissue to break down. That's what my surgeon says anyway. I'm seeing him tomorrow.
