Thanks for the encouragement. How long were you in hospital? x

Thanks for that, scared stiff!!!! How long were you in hospital?

Hi I was in hospital for 10 Days but that was due to sickness with medication at the start x

I was n hospital  for 8 days which is not unusual when you have had both done. Try not to worry I was worried to death but, it was all fine hospital staff were so nice a supportive, my surgeon was amazing, it's really not as bad as you think it's going to be.

i would agree its realy not as bad as your thinking, it was fine and just think you only need to go through it once x

No but having had one done 10 days ago I wish I had had them both done at once. The first week I dreadful but then it gets dramatically better each day.

Hope you make the right decision

Take care

Kaye can I ask how are u now? Are u doing normal things again? Do u still have muscle pain?

Hi Mchelle, I am doing mormal things again, but I'm careful I don't over do it, I have no muscle pain at all, or any other pain it's brilliant as before my new hips I couldn't walk , go upstairs, pick anything up off the floor and needed a lot of help.

That's great news Kaye, I still have muscle pain at the moment, I'm starting to bend and pick things up but scared I go too far and dislocate, do u still use ur crutches ? And what about work? X

Use crutches at the moment but not because of hips, but my right knee is bone on bone, so having a knee replacement on Thursday. Not back at work yet, will be by October. When I bend I am really careful.

Aw poor u going through more surgery, I hope everything goes really well and u have a speedy recovery, thanks for ur help x

Thanks everyone. Spent too long in hospitals over the years. My husband died 10 years ago aged 49. Then both my daughters were found to have the same cancer. After treatment they are fine now. I am better as a carer than a patient.

Thanks Michelle, I'll be fine, hope u progress well.

Dear Lynn,

It's been a log road for you have been thru so much. I'm saddened to hear   you lost your husband so young. I am happy your daughters have made it thru. Hoping your daughters will be there for you after surgery.

The most important part is to prepare you home and keep things in the kitchen and bathroom at counter height. No bending is a restriction after surgery. Prepare foods ahead of time, and watch animals, tripping over them or other household items such as throw rugs, cables etc. the doctor will give you a list of items to prepare for before surgery as well as items needed to raise the toilet seat , chair height etc.

I found wearing slip on shoes help and clothing that can be put on over your head rather than stepping into pants is easier .

You must be in a lot of pain right now with both hips going out at th same time. Once the surgery recovery and healing is over you will be moving a lot better and in a lot less pain. It takes a few months for the bones to grow and stabilize the components of the implants. Be patient and never over do!

Wish you well. And a good recovery ahead.

. HOPE

I agree it's really tough the first week or two but in time we finally get our lives and mobility back.

It is better than the alternative. At least within time we can walk with a lot less pain.

Hope your healing well. I have had 3 THR and each one is different with recovery.
