I just woke to go to the loo and getting back into bed i lent too far forward as i was half asleep. now really sore but got movement, have i damage my new hip?
Hiya Jo..
Firstly I would say ya fine on dislocation thing, try not to worry to much, I know it’s easy for me sit up in bed typing this reply.
Yes you’ve probably pulled something, I know I’ve seen your other posts, but at the moment can’t remember how many weeks P/O ![]()
I would say try to chill, maybe take some pain meds, even better try get some sleep, If ya still worried first thing in morning, maybe either call your GP or maybe call the ward you was in, they should be able to help or advice…
Take some pain killers and then if ya can get some rest, even if it’s a few hours…

Hi Jo,
if nothing felt real terrible and there were no pops or anything, you’re probably fine. I accidentally bent too far around 3 weeks post op. fortunately nothing really happened. Just was extra sore for a couple days.
thanks! I am 4 days post op! i was half asleep, but took more painkillers and its more sore than before but not hugely!! Been good with walking and am only on one stick but that and sitting down funny in my chair yesterday that caused a weird sensation in my hip, makes me feel more vulnerable and worried ill do some serious damage! Like everyone i just want to get better and back to normal asap!!
Did exactly the same at about 4 weeks. Very sore for a day or two afterwards but nothing drastic happened. My physio told me that pain (very definite pain!) always comes before damage so I suspect you’ve just pulled a muscle a bit. I also pulled my groin getting out of bed in the early recovery days and that was sore for more than a week. I think we all worry so much about dislocation but it’s actually a lot more difficult to do than we imagine. I’m sure you’re OK.
i worried one day about 14 days after when i bent forward a bit too much ( getting up out of chair ) felt something move in right groin area and was so annoyed with myself since had done so well
however i walked a few steps was still on crutches -and it didnt hurt i just felt had pulled something but all was fine
Hi Jo,
I bent completely over day after op as I had dropped a tissue, nurse told me off
. If you damaged it I think you would know about it.
thanks, joint feels a bit more tender and my bed excercises were a bit sore today but no more than that just now! fingers crossed & lesson learnt!!
That’s good - learn from the experience, take it easy, you will get there in the end.
Best wishes
Graham
if it dislocated you would immediately know. sure you are fine
