Does anyone out there know if a Consultant urologist would be able to interpret or report on a ct scan of my kidneys?
I had a ct scan a week ago and am having trouble getting the results, even though it was fasttracked. I am in the UK. Keep being told the radiologist hasn't had chance to report on the scan yet.
I havean appointment with a consultant urologist tomorrow and wondered if they may be able to view the scan and tell me what was found or do they have to wait for the radiologist report??
Any radiologists or doctors of long suffering patients with experience of this who can help?
Was the CT scan done in the same Hospital as the appt with the urologist? if so,the urologist would definitely want to see the scan and have the report and it should be fairly easy for this to be coordinated. Most hospitals have an internal computer system for consultants to access xrays/scans done on the same site.

Yes the ct scan was done in the same hospital last Thursday, 6th Oct. My appointment with the urologist is tomorrow, 14th. I am being told that the report hasn't been done and so am wondering if the consultant will look at the scan and be able to tell me anything if the radiologist hasn't actually written the report?
The consultants always like to wait for the radiologists opinion but they can exert pressure on the radiologists to get a quicker result if they feel the patients has an urgent issue.
I would ring the urologists secretary to ask if they have the result of CT scan, as there is no point in coming in for appt tommorrow without the results, ask her opinion, don't be tempted to offer your own opinion.
Urologists will alwys have a look for themselves, as will most specialists to double check the radiologists opinion.
Many years ago now when my son was 18 years old, he had a issue with his wrist, x-ray, vists to specialist when no result of weeks of physi just getting worse, x-ray put on wall by specialist, and pulled down again, and handed back to us.
I put the x-ray up on the light board on the wall again, and said to the specialist, when do you have an extra bone in your wrist between ulna and radius, circular patch above wrists joint, not very clear but there, specialist not very happy with me and after a argument he came and looked for himself and I pointed to the x-ray and said what's that, sons feet didn't touch the ground after that, surgery at 7am the following morning, tunred out was benign, but if it had been more serious some Dr's would have been talking to lawyers.
