Hi! So, this might be a little bit lengthy but hopefully it'll explain why I'm so confused about everything.
This started on 4/8 friday when I started feeling weak and run down so I went to the doctors on Saturday with flu like symptoms. Doctor said it was nothing, and said to take a flu shot (which is weird on a whole other level). All is well, no medication needed. The next day, my genital area is so sore and swollen that my friend tells me to go see a doctor just to be sure. I look in the mirror, I see nothing. The next day, i go to my doctor and she checks and sees that there are 5 tiny ulcers clustered together. Says it might be herpes, she took a swab test. Asked when I last had sex, I said 3 weeks ago. She said it usually takes 2-3 weeks for herpes to show up.
Here's the thing. I've only been with 2 sexual partners my entire life and they've both been people I've been in a relationship with. My first relationship was 2 years long, we always wore a condom (I was young and paranoid). I was his first, he was my first. Fast forward a couple months after that R/S ends. I date one of my friends, I am also his first sexually. We've been together for a year. Nothing has ever come up. He has never gone down on me with a cold sore- nothing. I also know for a fact both of them have never been unfaithful. She also said the possibility of it being from my first partner is very very rare. I was also born through a C-section so me getting it from my mum is out of the question too :\
I let the doctor know this and she got a little skeptical about the herpes. She said it'd be very strange if I did have herpes in this case. She asked me to come back the day after (today).
I went back today, she said she suspects it might be a nasty infection but since results are still not in, she'll have another look and see how everything is going. She noticed that the small ulcers have now become big ulcers that are looking more and more like herpes. I asked if there is any possibility it could be something else that just has the appearance of herpes, she said not that she knows of as nothing looks like that without being herpes.
I'm so confused. I go in tomorrow to see my results but I am so anxious. I can barely sleep, doesn't help that I am coughing so badly and am so sick. This has been messing with my head. I need some advice? I've done research, herpes doesn't seem that uncommon and hard to deal with. Doctor prescribed me some cream to soothe the pain until tomorrow and I just took a salt bath but any thoughts and opinions would be gladly appreciated!
