4 years ago my life was extremely stressful...i was only 21 years old...working part time trying to go to college full-time. My mother and I got kicked out of our home due to money issues we were forced to move somewhere we werent happy...my car was broke down everything was going wrong. I came home to find my mother trying to overdose on pills...so after weeks of extreme stress I woke up feeling heavy headed unbalanced. My brain felt like it was vibrating I was anxious. It felt like i was in a dream like state disconnected from everything. I ended up at the ER. They just diagnosed me with an inner ear infection and sent me home saying it would get better in a few weeks. I was almost blacking out and filled with fear. I had always been an anxious person. I had my first panic attacks at age 13 due to more stress at the time. So anyway I've felt dream like and heavy headed for 4 years...the anxiety went away for a while but the dream like heavy head never did. It got worse a month or two ago due to more stress...my doctor gave me escitalopram (lexapro) to take. I havent taken it yet cause im scared and worried about the meds side effects...what do you guys think anyone experience anxiety like this? or should I ask for more tests at the doctor? I keep thinking its probably something worse....a brain tumor maybe
Chelsea,
First off, I am so very sorry that you have to endure so much stress, turmoil and anxiety in your life. You should be proud that you have kept battling through.
It sure sounds to me like the Lexapro could be beneficial to you. Please keep in mind that our bodies are all different and if you try and find that the Lexapro isn’t helping after 6 to 8 weeks, don’t be afraid to let your doctor know as it (Lexapro) may just not be the right medication for you. Finding the right SSRI is trial and error. What may work for me, may not work for you. But…don’t lose hope if the first one or two don’t work as there is one out there that will help. I had to try 4 different meds before finding the “right” one.
Have you thought about or attempted therapy for your anxiety? I ask because I have found that therapy has been a big help to me in dealing with my chronic anxiety / panic.
Exercise is a must for a person with anxiety! The endorphins that are released during exercise have a claming / happy effect on our bodies.
Please know that I am rooting for you and am here for support whenever you need someone to talk to. God Bless!
Thank you so much for the positivity
yes I agree i will try the medication hopefully it can work. Ive been thinking about doing some kind of talk therapy as well seeing as how I dont like talking about it with people in my life. Not bc they arent supportive I just dont want them to worry lol. But I’m not giving up I will find happiness again. ![]()
