Help for my mum

Hi Everyone, My mum has symptoms of dizziness, shaky legs, headaches at night, and now shaky arms, she is really panicking that there is something very wrong, she has seen 2 drs, has had blood tests and an x-ray all of which are Ok, she is 69 yrs old, smokes and drinks, any advice really appreciated please.

So presumably the two doctors have not diagnosed anything medically wrong, but I suspect they have made recommendations. First step is for her to stop drinking any alcohol in any form; secondly, and harder, is to stop smoking. The latter may not have any direct connection to her symptoms but is not helping her. When our general health is at risk such things matter.

After that she could be sent to see a general specialist who would consider her whole medical history and all possibilities. It will be much easier to get that appointment if the GP knows that she has stopped drinking and smoking.

Thanks for your reply Jaguar, but, I know she will not stop drinking or smoking, I just wondered if anyone had any advice on the symptoms she is experiencing now.

Difficult. Her symptoms suggest alcohol has become her real enemy. Perhaps you could come to an agreement of her coming off the wagon for 4 weeks to see if that produces any change. However, I suspect she needs much more than that.
