Help, getting really down about Molluscum

Hey roger49312, how are you? I just want to share with you that after a month of religiously putting povidone-iodine on the MC bumps, nothing much happened. LOL I decided to pop them a week ago (of course, with extra precaution, made sure everything is sterile) and made sure to extract the core before putting tea trea oil and band-aid. Surprisingly, out of the 12 I popped, only 1 seem to be still active. There might have been some core residue so I will try to pop it again. As of checking, there are no new lesions and praying that there won't be new lesions ever. haha

I know you popped a few of yours? How did it go for you? I'm feeling hopeful that this might end my MC journey.

I think mine have gone away! Its been two weeks and nothing new has come up. I also took Cimitidine for the last month. My derm seems very certain that my last beetle juice treatment was the last one! I had liquid nitrogen done once while i had 4 beetle juice treatments. If you ask me beetle juice had less scarring then liquid nitrogen. But can anyone give any advice for what to apply on the scarring to get rid of the discoloration faster?

If anyones wondering about the time frame, I came in contact with MC August 2019 and they came up in November 2019 and i didnt start treatment until end of January 2020 because PCP said dont do anything and not to worry about it -.-

We're on the same boat. It looks like mine has gone away too! Mine started popping around September 2019 and was burned by the doctor by the end of January 2020. My MC simply wasn't diagnosed correctly during the first doctor visit that's why it got out of control. I did not know it could spread by touching so my intial 3 MCs ended up multiplying to 15. I developed 15 more between Feb-April and finally got the courage to pop all of them in the last week of April to the first week of May. I wanted to try taking Cimitedine too but I had breathing issues after taking a pill. haha

Oh well, it's only been a week since I got rid all of it. Fingers crossed. Goodluck to us!

Hey! I've been reading your comments and hope all is well. I waited months after my bumps had started since I have eczema and confused it for that, but luckily it hasn't spread too badly. Because of the pandemic, I have to wait until mid-July to get them frozen. He told me to not try and treat them myself, but they are spreading gradually and getting irritating. I bought freeze treatment, but would you advise freezing them off on my own?

Hi if they are really staring to stress you then yes get a home kit but make sure you dont do it a few weeks before you go to get it done properly as you dont want to get there and him say the skin hasn't healed from where you have been messing and refuse to do it. usually they say wait two to three weeks between treatments. hope that helps

hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with something.

I have been clear from any new bumps for nearly 3 months and then i saw a tiny little bump in the genital region. Now im not convinced its molloscum but was wondering if anyone knew about timelines and how long you had to be clear before you can be sure it wont come back?

My understanding is this isnt a dormant disease and so the likelihood this is molloscum is very slim. But if anyone has been told any actual answers in regards to how long without a new bump before you can be sure it isnt coming back, that would be great?

Thanks as always guys.

I just hit the big ones (that burn sucks) and I think I left it on a little too long because my skin started to blister more than expected where my two biggest bumps are (I read that cryotherapy should result in small blisters but these were decent sized). It should be healed within my appointment next month I'm guessing. Also I ordered some Agmatine tablets and I've heard very good results for people so I'm going to try that and maybe get some Cimetidine as well.

hi there everyone ive been suffering from molluscum for 11 whole months now!! :/ i dont have any immune system diseases but i can not manage to get rid of this virus. ive tried cryo curetting by the derm.. even beetle juice. I kee getting new bumps every 3 weeks or so. i take vitamins l lysine and vit d. what else can i do? please some help me i cry every single night because of this virus!!! how can i clear it? does it ever go away? has anyone had it last this long??
i am very clean always cleaning my clothes after one wash should i be bleaching them? any help would be appreciated

so sorry you are still getting them. They will go. sounds like you are doing everything you can. I personally never washed all my clothes every time or bleach that's drastic. your anxiety and stress from them is probably not helping. start by telling yourself they will go and focus on other areas fitness, plenty of sleep

Are you sure they are molluscum firstly? I get little bumps now all the time panic a bit bit but then they go. how many have you got?

drink loads of water and just keep ontop of the cryo every two to three weeks. That's the best thing to do. Sorry I dont have a sure fit answer.

congrats on being free for 3 months most derms say 3 months of being clear means you are clear some drs say if you have none you are clear - the illness is harmless so not enough research out there i have only read one case online where a guy says he has had it for 6 years and they keep coming back - but i dont believe everything i read online.

most hair follicles around the genitals are not uniform and if you are looking and looking and are full of anxiety and fear of finding one you can mistake a non uniform hair follicle or fordyce spot or inflamed hair follicle for one

in most cases this thing is gone in 6-9 months and in some cases its gone in 1-2 months and rarely its longer than a year

remember its harmless and will go

thanks yes im trying to remain calm its just been so long! i just never heard of anyone having it this long. hopefully my body recognizes this soon thanks for your advice

Hey Mindy I'm sorry you are having to go through this, and I hope you get better soon. Since doctors don't seem to really care about it too much and it lacks funds for research, I've tried looking everywhere on the internet for medicine that helps. Two of the most common OTC pills I've heard of people taking with success on Reddit, this forum, and other medical forums are Cimetidine and Agmatine Sulfate. You can get Cimetidine from a pharmacy and order Agmatine Sulfate pills on Amazon. I'm willing to try it for mine but have heard one person mention breathing difficulties with Cimetidine, so be cautious. I've also heard of these helping reduce anxiety (something I deal with) and OCD in multiple people, which could be reason it helps. It's really annoying that we have to look for help with treatment ourselves on forums, but it is what it is. I'm glad we have a place to talk about this and hopefully if we try these things out on ourselves then we can find unorthodox methods that actually work and help others, but don't risk your health if you have a bad feeling about taking these medicines. Best of luck!

New here. I've been dealing with MC for about a month and a half, although I'm pretty sure I've had it for several months. I'm in a state of near constant panic and depression. Enjoyed reading this thread. I'm wondering if anyone here on this thread has any further updates on their cases??? Looking for every shred of hope I can find.

Hi. I know exactly how you feel and I hated every minute of it wondering if I would wake up with more or if they would ever go or if they would come back again as sometimes they need more than one treatment. I want to reassure you that you will get there but it will take a long time that will feel like forever. I think looking back I had them a lot for the first 6 months and then after a it got really bad they all suddenly started to go and I even after they had cleared up I had the odd one pop up for a few months after. I was convinced the other day I had one again and left it a few days and it went down so I am still horrendously paranoid about them and wont shave just in case. If you can go to the gum clinic get the frozen off every few weeks and keep at it and get a home kit although they don't work as good. Loads of water and no stress as I think that plays a massive part on our overall health. If you are ever feeling really down just message and I ll try msg as soon as I can.

Thank you, Gemma. I am so appreciative of people who have already been down this road who are willing to share their experience. You are probably tired of responding to questions, but can you just confirm your timeline a bit? You think you got it back in March of '19, then started fighting it the summer of '19. Then, you seemed to turn the corner to real healing about six months later. How long has been now since you had a confirmed lesion?

it's hard to remember now but I really struggled mentally july to septemebr and they just kept popping up. I started a relationship and he was happy to wait and late nov we got intimate and I was sure he would get it as i thought one had gone and it hadnt but he has been fine and so thankful for that. after that i had one jan time i treated myself but not sure if it was one or not and any bumps I panicked about after went so. I would say march to November 2019 def felt like a lifetime

Hi Gemma, thanks for everything that you've shared on here, it's been really helpful to read as a fellow young woman who is feeling incredibly anxious because of this virus.

Based on your posts, it looks like you're in the UK; if I may, did you have the freezing done privately or on the NHS? I've had molluscum for about 4 months now, I've seen multiple GPs who told me not to do anything and one who told me to try molludab which I've done but it didn't work unfortunately. I've also tried tea tree oil and tcp to no effect.

I have mild psoriasis and eczema so I am particularly concerned about autoinoculation as my skin is poor anyway. So far it has been confined to my legs but I believe I have just found a spot on my hip and I'm quite freaked out.

Thanks again!

Yes! Mine left in about one month! I myself recently got CM I would say about 5 months ago, all on my inner thigh and bum (it was so embarrassing). I bought a solution on amazon that I found while researching about how to get rid of CM. It is called 'Molusk Cuteanous solution'. It contains Potassium Hydroxide at 10% which is the highest endorsed compound within scientific journals for the treatment of MC. I know that this doesn't mean it will be effective 100% of the time for everyone but it is worth a try. I applied this solution to each individual molluscum every night until they each became inflamed and red. The reason why I did this is because the acid on the lesion kick starts the body's immunity. Generally your body doesn't even realise that the molluscum is on your body because it is so benign. This is why it takes a long time for your body to notice and get rid of them! With every new mollsucum that appeared I would carry out the same routine by adding the drop of acid on the head at night before i went to sleep. Because some molluscum were on my body before the newer ones these would heal quicker and tended to scab over due to the acid, which meant my body was fighting the virus and healing the top layer of skin from the acid. I know how much anxiety this condition causes but this routine healed mine in about a month in total and no new molluscum appeared after either. I hope this helps

Hi that ok I am glad that people find it helpful and reassuring, I must admit I found the GP's really unhelpful and as its not seen as serious (but it is mentally) they wont help you. yes I am in the UK and I went to the local GUM clinic which was a pain having to sit and queue for ages but it was worth it. However, they may not be doing it now due to covid you may want to phone up first. Be careful with the tea tree oil as my skin suddenly decided it would react to even the most tiny bit and I had to throw it away so I wouldnt try it again haha. Hope you get on ok and lets hope the one on your hip is just a random bump and will go in a few days. Feel free to ask anything,

That's awesome that you got rid of it in a month. So, you've been clear for, what, 3 or 4 months now? No new ones ever popped up? I'll look in to that product if mine worsen. Thanks!
