I was diagnosed with hsv type 2 over a year ago (even though i have not been sexually active for a year previous) in the first year my outbreaks became longer apart longest 19weeks, and less painful (my initial breakout was very tiny liason but i was poorly and was poorly for the following 2 breaks) come january this year the 1st to be exact i had a breakout, 2 weeks later and it was 6 weeks before 1st jan i had break out too. my doc put me on suppression as i am very depressed over the outbreaks as my situation with my partner is difficult! the aviclor works for me on breakouts and now I'm on 2x 400mg a day even though I'm afraid to come off as iv heard the outbreak when you come off suppression is very bad
I am finding that I am still getting twinges in my leg and butt as that is a big sign for me an outbreak is coming, before I went on the suppression the nerve running down my left leg was so and i was laid up in bed for 2days. Why am I still getting pains when on suppression?
my mentality over this has left me suicidal especially with the difficulty surrounding my partner.
Sorry to hear that. Herpes sucks, but life does go on. You might want to post on the genital herpes forum though. There are lots of people there walking in your shoes:
"There are lots of ways to obtain help in order to make the suicidal feelings go away and to prevent a tragedy. If you need help now, you can call the Samaritans free in the UK on 116 123, 24 hours a day."
I just posted a reply which is "waiting to be moderated", so I'm going to try to post it in smaller chunks:

We note from a recent post which you have made to our forum that you may be experiencing thoughts around self-harm. If we have misinterpreted your comments then we apologies for contacting you directly. But if you are having such thoughts then please note that you are not alone in this, and there are people out there that can help.
If you are having these suicidal thoughts then we strongly recommend you speak to someone who may be able to help. The Samaritans offer a safe space where you can talk openly about what you are going through. They can help you explore your options, understand your problems better, or just be there to listen.
If you are having such thoughts then please do reach out to the team at the Samaritans (or the other people detailed in our leaflet) who will understand what you're going through and will be able to help.
