So a family member who I live with has been drinking almost everyday for most his life, I class him as an alcoholic because of the amount he drinks and how frequently. So recently like in the last few weeks myself and my mother have been noticing some radical changes in his behaviour and picking up on certain things. His memory has been going a lot so forgetting important things whilst drunk and whilst sober. He's been falling asleep constantly and forgetting that he's got things cooking which is worrying because he could end up causing a fire. And its really difficult to wake him up. I've noticed that he sometimes he says he feels really cold even when it's boiling. His personality has changed slightly also, he's very rude and snappy and says some horrible things (he never used to be like that). The main thing I noticed a lot more is his tolerance to alcohol has got lower, he has one beer and straight away sounds drunk. The other worrying thing is my mother said he looked yellow the other day.
I need some advise because he's a very stubborn man and won't listen to any of his family if we tried to discuss this with him I'm certain he wouldn't listen and we're worried because if his liver is failing or something else is wrong he might get to the stage where it's too late and no one can help him. What should we do?
