You really need to go and see a doctor, it is something that you will have to do in later life and every female has to.
You will be better of getting advise and speaking about the issue to prevent it from getting any worse.
I know it is embarrasing, so avoid all your worrying and paranoia go and get the treatment.
Take care and good luchk
I myself have suffered from this condition twice. The worry and embarrassment that you have mentioned are common to all women who suffer these symptoms of bv. The best thing is to seek treatment from your doctor. When you follow the antibiotic treatment correctly (including not drinking alcohol during or for 48 hours after) it is very successful. You should find that both the smell and any related discharge will clear within a week. I have found that visiting the doctor about such things can be helped in the beginning by asking for a female doctor if possible, this should help you get used to the processes.
I have just been to the family planning clinic after my second case of bv. The female doctor was very considerate and made me feel very normal. Bv is embarrasing for the sufferer but i have read many other peoples experiences and know that i am not alone. It is very common and also easy to treat with antibiotics. Also knowing that it isnt due to poor hygiene but an imbalance in the ph level in the vagina makes me feel better. I would recommend you go to the sexual health clinic if you feel to embarrased to see your GP as everything is treated confidentially.
I was asked to take part in a study for the development of a swab that is being designed to test yourself at home and if it is put on the market this will be very helpful and less traumatic for us women that suffer with such conditions. Good luck.
